Hi you! Thanks for checking the page of Katri Johannes.

I’m a helsinkian DJ, who plays both solo and as a part of a team called Borderline Babez. The last mentioned I share with by mentor and one of my biggest musical idols Hilla Liila aka shambles.

So to share some about me and my values: My pronomines are she/her. I’m proudly queer and I strongly support the safer space policies in parties. My heart beats more to the underground party scene, but I’m happy to play anywhere people come together for the tunes.

I have an insatiable love for rolling house music! The bassline is what always gets my attention. It needs to be flirtatious and hooking, like a good eye contact. And even if I go for the uplifting perky tech, tight disco or sentimental deep tunes, what matters the most to me in a track is its progression, it’s story. 

The tracks I play for others are chosen solely with a thought ”I would dance to this”. As a listener I love to be surprised, so I also build my sets with tracks that follow no spesific genre. If it works with the story of the set I might bring together something minimalistic and massive, industrial and organic. 

As an artist I trust my intuition and ever since I’ve learned to play I have never obeyed the genre lines. Sometimes it makes it hard to tell ”what kind of a dj” I am. So I’ll leave that to the listener.

Electronic Market takes shape as an electronic music collective and booking agency based in Helsinki.

We are a community of friends and like-minded individuals. Amalgamating our profound love for the dancefloor with our prowess as DJs and event organizers, we founded Electronic Market in 2018 as a platform for creative curiosity, supportive collaboration and endless experimentation.

We want to co-create with international agencies, artistic communities, radios, clubs and festivals who share our ambition of pushing boundaries and making way for unexpected ideas. We aim to widen the position of underrepresented artists in the music industry, and to shape the industry towards open-mindedness and sincerity with determination and hard work.

Unity is power, and music is the universal modulator.

The chairperson of Local Deep and a regular face at bars, clubs, open airs and festivals around Finland. The misunderstood messenger of house music. Known for their admiration for big vocals and wack beats, tasty basslines and seamless mixing. Crossing genre lines effortlessly like its a necessity for them to keep things interesting not just for the listener but for themself as well. Making a hassle with their lovemeorhateme-attitude. This artist is someone who needs to have new challenges while doing their work in the DJ booth or sitting at home making music. 

A Music enthusiast. Not just a dj but a character who demands on making experiences more than just good parties and nicely flowing sets. Wants to have an emotional impact on the listener/crowd - whatever the emotional response may be. No way near any boxes. All the boxes are in fact lost. Always expect the unexpected. Sound consists of everything; you can call it whateveristic.

2024 is a fresh start for Hilla as they pursue their dreams as a producer under this alias as well. This allows this artist to channel their more disco and house-vibed side. A few secret weapon edits in the bag and some originals waiting in the desk drawer.
