The newest instalment of our Free Download series brings us to Cape Town, South Africa with a lush neo-soul/R&B cut ‘Waiting For You’ from ECHLN and Shirah Cheezer.

Kwetsima Maluleke a.k.a ECHLN (pronounced echelon) is a South African born music producer and sound engineer. He was born and raised in Pretoria and now lives in Cape Town.

As a child, he has always liked the music. As he got older, he realized that most, if not all the songs he liked were produced by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. Starting from the ‘Justified’ album by Justin Timberlake. This, together with Pharrell’s debut album ‘In My Mind’ made him pay more attention to music and how it’s made. Since 2009, ECHLN has been forging a unique blend of R&B and Hip Hop glued together by uniquely South African soulful elements.

Shirah Cheezer, is a singer and songwriter who grew up in Uitenhage Bredasdorp, Kimberley and now lives in Cape Town. She was raised in a strongly musical family, and has been singing in a choir from a very young age. While Shirah lends her vocals to a wide range R&B, Hip Hop and House beats, her strongest musical influence comes from her earliest roots - Gospel music.

‘Waiting For You’ is a track that's dripping with sensuality and soul, driven by a smoky beat built around Shirah’s hauntingly beautiful vocals. Play this one late at night with the lights down.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Iman Europe releases her debut album, Nami. Nami is Iman's name backwards; a nickname given to her as a child. Ironically enough, Nami also means "wave" in Japanese and "us" in Polish, which plays a part in the thematic direction of the album. In this Los Angeles love story, Iman showcases her sonic versatility and immaculate writing skills, while keeping listeners engaged from start to finish. According to Iman Europe, she "made an album, album", taking the time to skillfully craft a storyline that many listeners can follow and relate to. "This is a story of falling in and out of love with someone, ultimately to find that love within yourself," she says. Tapping into her Creative Writing Bachelor's Degree, Iman also wrote an affirmation book titled Nami Says to accompany the album.
