The night sky was lit by the flames of the flickering candles that bordered the clearing — it was the only light for miles and miles. Here they were far away from everything, and where there were no signs of civilisation, there were no interruptions. Those lucky enough to be welcomed into this ritual were all here for one reason or another. But the overriding motivation was finding something beyond the realms of reality; an intangible and unspoken force that could lead them to a higher state of consciousness. 

Tagliabue's organic approach to production has yielded cosmic and trance-inducing releases for the likes of Lustpoderosa, Cosmica Music and Blue Sea, under this alias and his given name Joseph Tagliabue. Elephant Gait Music is the next home for his transcendental musings, this time coming in the form of his debut mini-album Ambiente Sonoro. Like his previous releases, the music is cerebral and enchanting, merging eerie chants, droning atmospheres and ritualistic sounds with 70s library music and IDM influences à la Daniela Casa, Egisto Macchi, Global Communication and Coil.

What a band name! Does the contraction of “polyamory” and “armory” say anything about the duo formed of famed producer Michael J Collins and singer Ashley Moore? We didn’t dig the issue further but focused on what we have here. No newcomer, Michael J Collins is some sort of a genius hermit, who produced a number of weird house efforts on labels such as Wolf + Lamb, My Favorite Robot or Apersonal Music, to name a few. His tunes even landed on the Fabric series. But Michael much prefers the shadier underground, and launched his own label FilthyBroke Recordings releasing leftfield instrumental hip hop and pop since 2014. Together with Ashley Moore under Polyarmory they push the bounderies of electronica meets the dancefloor. After of 40 years of dance music history, we wondered if there was yet anything new to bri? These two provide an answer right here. Go figure if this house, electronica, trap, bass or something in between or above! Polyarmory brings a fresh transcendental interpretation of dance music.

To complete the pack with exquisite remixes, Amarcord and Jamie Paton have been invited to join the effort.

Amarcord is a musician, DJ and Live Performer also active in the experimental music circuit.

With a very diverse background that ranges from Krautrock and Ambient to New Wave, Disco and Techno, Amarcord's productions are truly original and unpredictable choices that went as far as having him be one of the to release music on Laurent Garnier’s secret label Cod3 QR, or featured on record labels such as Jennifer Cardini's Correspondant, Watergate (for the compilation curated by Who Made Who), Ombra International and Aeon and many more. He takes 'Dream Back To Sleep' further reaching the quintessence of what the Special place label's goal is about, a shamanic and cosmic take on dance music.

Jamie Paton, is one half of Cage & Aviary and considers himself part man, part machine, part cockatiel. He's a self-described DJ, a one-finger keyboardist, and a pot-tickler. Having put out releases to acclaim on the ltd editions that are Dissident Distribution, Cage & Aviary have since spread their wings with releases on DFA, Tiny Sticks, and Astro Lab. For his part, Jamie Paton brings 'Like Flies To Honey' into some form of dubby abstract land of sounds.

Enter Planet Dust welcomes Frenchman in Berlin, Manuel Jesus aka @world_wild_web to the ranks with the first single from his upcoming LP, Transmutation. Having cut his teeth fronting proto-punk psyche groups in his teenage years, Jesus made several extended trips to India and relocated to Berlin where he set up a studio and joined the artist collective and DIY venue, Loophole. 

World Wild Web's organ and drum machine-led music nods to the global Cosmic continuum, and reminds me of Suicide, Rizan Sa'id, The Monks and more. 'Cursed Fruits' shows off Manuel's dark, nihilistic approach toward catchy organ pop.

Born in Milan to a Cameroonian father and a Polish/Lithuanian mother, Dawidowicz's moved to Jerusalem at age six. They have spent their childhood in a Jewish ultra-orthodox environment, playing the piano within the context of religious ceremonies and dreaming of becoming a fashion designer and musician. After waking up from the reality they were raised in, they moved to Venice and started to explore the world outside of the mental barriers of religion. While completing their fashion design degree back in Milan, music was their medicine, and they quickly started developing the practice of storytelling through the medium of sound, serendipitously pursuing their father's path as a disk jockey in the vibrancy of the Eighties and Nineties cosmopolitan Milanese nightlife. Their search for home and their devotion to music brought them quickly to Berlin, where they currently create, live, and love.

Sanctuary of Ideas is a very personal and optimistic journey by Nathan Dawidowicz. A spiritual path, as cosmic and adventurous as Nathan’s trajectory, with beautiful twists and psychedelic twirls into their personal rabbit hole. A record full of memories and positive affirmations, filled with jazzy yet psychedelic Cosmic and Krautrock elements. A fusion of inspiration and a perfect reflection of Dawidowicz's heritage.

Idea`s Eve is a stargate to our ancestral power. The source of our inspiration is connected to our past - to the spirits of our ancient memories. Dawidowicz leaves a lot of space to breathe in this magical opener. Enchanting melodies and bubbling sounds surround the listener while his voice keeps repeating a mantra of an ancient love spell. A track where you feel your DNA spiraling up the ladder of evolution. Yet so natural and healing.

Full Moon Dance is the spiritual continuation of the first track. A swirl of magical melodies, yet jazzy but truly cosmic walking up the ladder to another dimension, where warm moon rays and fluffy clouds surround love. The synth lines represent the playful and smooth moon rays reflected on a rhythmical heart-beating ground where tears can be joyfully spent to honor the emotions we usually oppress.

To close the EP, Nathan Dawidowicz worked a half a year to finalize the last track in full detail. 23 Minutes and 18 Seconds long is the Capricorn Rising Over Jerusalemite Temple. This story is where the listener is brought to a higher level of consciousness. Against the rules of our consumerist world, Nathan Dawidowicz focuses on a dramaturgy full of patience for our own lifetime. Acidic lines come and go, powerful synth solos trigger unknown brain parts, and an epic melody accompanies the listener and lets dark emotions melt in a brass-filled part where a voice tells us that time is on our side. The song ends with an epic twist and promises a new start, where our most lovely memories stay in a vortex of light. Beam me up Nathan

Following on from Plus Instruments’ Love Is Enough Remixes EP comes an accompanying Dubs EP, featuring deeper reversions by Jamie Paton, Luke Solomon, Khidja and joining them with a breaks meets dubwise, Alphonse.

Truus de Groot’s return to her Plus Instruments project after a 30 years break saw the label pick up her off-kilter House roller, Love Is Enough for one of our (e)special remixing packages. Here then, we turn out attention to everyone’s favourite, the Dubs.

Starting with label mainframe, Jamie Paton, his Cloudy Dub-Out pulls his mix through modular prisms for heads down basement rumble. Echo chamber vocals, twisted syncopations and a bass to breakdown walls, this is Paton’s true calling - dub to get lost in and rightful to kick off the EP.

Next guest remixer de jour, Luke Solomon stays close to his original bumpin’ remix, warping the vocal with skat’n’trippin wonk, all atop a funk bass line and riding shuffle percussion. Cha cha cha.

On the flip, Khidja triumph again with a tougher version. Not a straight up dub of their remix, this pushes a nod to colder (wave) vibes, with industrial percussion riding high on their trademark production. Hard kick atop refrained synths, growing out of Eastern protoid routes to glimpse their future.

Finally, mystery man Alphonse comes in from the dark to close with a killer breaks inspired dub. Utilising the original’s bass with an angular break, the intricate cut up percussion, Theremin and vocals all glide, keeping the head and feet (jazz) dancing for some (free) party sound system love.

Review: The Hong Kong based Homesick team are back with their yearly release of quality reworks that has made the label sought after since their first release back in 2014. For the 7th opus they've worked with Indonesian artist Jonathan Kusuma (Previously on Cocktail D'Amore and I'm a Cliche) for two reworks that have been thoroughly tried on Asia's dance floors for the past two years.

Studiolo is a compilation made by our long time friend and cosmic music maniac Ygal Ohayon. He plays records since many years in Paris bars and club. Also know as The Basseleen along side with Vidal Benjamin they has been seen rocking’ a fair amount of dancefloor around Paris and abroad,. Ygal worked for Versatile records as label manager for more than 10 years and is now part of the Antinote family. We all met around 2005 and quickly got a deep interest for Cosmic Sound from 70's to 90's, playing for the tribute party "Cosmic Club" among others. Ygal was also involved in the Edit du Golem serie featuring, among others, a very interesting collection of cosmic songs.
