Ransom Note Records are delighted to announce Blueprints Revisited, six remixes of the breakthrough debut mini-album from Ammonite, a.k.a. songwriter-producer Amy Spencer.

We have invited an array of the best producers the underground has to offer to perform remix duties. Our first offering is from Seoul-based duo, Salamanda remixing When You Don’t. The up and coming self-described "leftfield ambient duo", have taken elements from the heavenly, delicate original track and reworked them into a retro, synth heavy, slow-mo workout. The sparse, driving drum break reveals Amy’s angelic vocal layers and Salamanda have added their own distinctive flare, creating a spectacularly bold mix.

Dark, deep and trippy; Ukrainian producer shjva takes us on a voyage to the centre of reality.

A mysterious craft drifts dormant through the void. Glitchy breaks and twinkly synths blink into motion as systems initialise, preparing for the final approach to the Metazone.

Polycaste engines throb in the background whilst control panels bleep rhythmically, trippy arps ensue.

The craft lurches into motion, astral synths flash by the viewing port as the bassline sunders reality. You Must Let it Go.

Final approach to the Metazone, Eversines remix. Instruments spin and bleepy wildly. Dark 303s distort spacetime. The craft grinds to a halt.

We have arrived.

The waves thrashed and crashed against the shore. The rocks black and barely noticeable against the darkness of the deep night sky. The noise was incredible – echoing and reverberating in the midst of the storm.

Rushing into water, the land was almost greeting the waves with a hug for that was all it could do.

Watching from a lighthouse perched atop the hill, he looked down at the raging chaos before him and danced in the rain which relentlessly fell from the skies above.

It was going to be a long night…

Rising star Remotif returns to Especial with a full complement of his “trance fusion”, a modern-day ethnicity of breakbeat techno dance music. With releases on Coymix, and Space Lab, as well as soon appearing on the cult label Avidya, plus a burgeoning DJ career from Fabric to Berlin’s seminal Warning parties, his time and space is now.

A standout inclusion on the last Especial sampler “Comunion Especial” (EES040) was a prescient to a pure natural ability to create hypnotic grooves. Part of the burgeoning Bristol scene Joe “Remotif” Reddick has steadily built a series of releases and admirers, a psychedelic swirl of bouncing beats, oscillating rhythms and trippy vox that capture a moment of merging zeitgeist.

Starting with U 15, this is prime time, jacking Remotif, where melody, samples, and beats angelate, stretch and absorb, almost devotional, but always engaging the feet and mind, a blissful science, daring shanti awakenings.

Deep and dripping, the organic ooze of Glint's Pursuit follows. Tribal percussion, shimmery timbres, siren vocals, the sharpness created by slowing the bpms giving oxygen to our experience. Rising, rising.

The Elevated Place sums much of Remotif’s music. His personal highs (and lows) encompassed via sound design. Acidic, nocturnal, skywards, the unquantifiable stream of emotion is in there, a very genuine capturing of a personal journey wrought from machines, translating into a musical form. The lost chord, the funk electric. Whichever, the drop ethereal, the breaks supertight, the hope unrelenting. An apt EP title.

The end (for now) an inverse to Joe’s universe. The space between, the afters, the dub, the mantra, nodding to Bristol’s music history, The Sunken Place is a groove-led, break-neck, trip-not, head-swinging, deftly-made electronic micro-symphony. From the 90s to the 20’s, San Francisco to Stroom, Remotif rides the signal.

Berlin-based imprint Thisbe Recordings line up a 6-track various artist compilation entitled ‘The Blue Hour‘ assembling a steady line up of producers, each delivering shadowy, machine-driven frequencies steeped in dark disco aesthetics and slow-burning grooves...Our pick is ‘Extase‘ by WWW (World Wild Web). Mastered by Cem Oral at Jammin Masters, the track surges like a sonic tempest, fusing puzzling EBM frequencies with driving post-punk rhythms. It feels like an interplanetary communion ignited by a cyber-fuelled euphoria of Arabesque synths and French dubbed-out poetry.

Solar Flex draws inspiration from 90s club oriented dance music and sets moods from laid back outdoors to prime time club nights and after hours. On the A-side ‘Stepping Toward Zen’ prepares for the mental workout with shivering chants that gain consciousness to rhythmic tablas and spacious bleeps. Next, mysterious energies set free with ‘Entropica’ unfolding its wobbly dub baseline to the enigma of pitched cymbals and robo-rhythms aligned by the steady-state of a bouncing four-to-the-floor 909 kick. ‘Supernature’ pops the B-side with a more club-oriented electro-trance blended stomper soothed by watery pads that set a pause before straight breaks and alien leads ask for their sweaty tributes. Finishing off, ‘Tablagauze’ primes for after hours with a gnarly downtempo chugger speckled with overdriven analogue drums and hypnotic acid arpeggios.

Max Essa returns to Is It Balearic? for his 9th release on the label. ‘When I'm Homeward Bound' brings us that classic Essa sound with a hint of Tears For Fears for good measure! The pads are delightfully gooey and subtly uplifting over gently percussive and stuttering beats and the whole thing is rich in lazy poolside energy. Nathan Dawidowicz remixes the original into a hypnotic, percolating piece of deep and tribal disco, while Secret Soul Society brings out the early evening house grooves ready for those sunset sessions. The record finishes with the closing cut, 'Chasing Horses’,  a super sweet late night groove with heartfelt chords and instrumentation.

Ed Rain is somewhat of a “new” name on the label’s roster.  His fresh debut LP, titled ‘Met Him on a Wednesday’, explores various channels of artistic expressions and ideas, compiled together into a cohesive and entertaining album.
It is an immersive venture into post-genre sonic landscapes, providing glimpses into both the artist’s serious and playful sides, offering listeners a fun and captivating auditory experience.

Whether it’s the sluggish, wavy beats of the opening tracks (Subway Gang, Slow Talk), his playful take on post-punk electronica (Invocation, z ‘AX) or his more mellow and contemplative collaborations with Julienne Dessagne (aka Fantastic Twins) and Diana Miron, Ed Rain puts on display his wide array of influences. Be it Jon Hassel and Philipp Glass’s 4th world(ish) moods or Adrian Sherwood and Bill Laswell’s dubby aesthetics, he manages to weave together a unique interpretation for a debut album.

This new project paints a space where experimentalism and emotional vulnerability coexist, where various sides of one’s personality are stirred together into the sonic pot, resulting in a vast sonic spectrum, resonating from one source.
