[Emotional] Especial returns to the music of Peter Reilly aka Persian, with a second EP
diving into his extensive catalogue to celebrate this cult artist and evaluate his recent decision to retire from music production.

For over 20 years Reilly has been an exemplary electronic producer, a producer’s producer, a DJs producer, releasing over 50 EPs that crossed genres, from Breaks to Digidub, Electro to Garage, House to Jungle and on and on.

If this release is to act as an epitaph, then its exploration of Reilly’s wonderful programming, sampling and understanding of emotions is laid bare. Spread across a series of self-released edits hidden within limited run EPs, Questions appeared as something akin to beats interludes, across numerous releases over the last 10 years.

Bringing the best versions together on one EP, Questions 1, 2, 5, 3 and 7 have been re-edited, extended and sequenced into a continuous mix especially for this finale. Starting with the ambient breaks of Questions 1, this is a Balearic beginning where bubbling acid meets haunting refrain, before segueing effortlessly in to the sunrise breaks of Questions 2. A nod to Carl Craig’s classic Incognito remix, the solo keys add a touch of jazz to a glide by shooting melody.

Side 2 rises. Question 5 heralds a half stepper Dub bassline riding the Amen breaks, the now familiar Brando sample, a wormhole in your brain that ties the EP together, joining the dots as strings float skywards, allowing Questions 3 break it all back down. Herbie Handcock inspired Funk Boogie beat, shouts out to his own Existence To Resistance label, leads to the pure ambient closing of Questions 7. A showcase again of Persian’s multi-genre dexterity and maybe, just maybe brings an influential music chapter to a close.

@transmigration_records is a Berlin-based record label and archive dedicated to reissuing temporarily lost or forgotten psychedelic electronic music.

Founded in 2022 by Irish DJ David Fogarty, the label has since gathered momentum and recognition for breathing new life into niche catalogues – often forgotten ambient and trance records from the ’90s – through careful restoration and presentation to new audiences.

Like many of the best record labels, Transmigration’s output is reflective of what you might hear in one of David’s DJ sets. Drawing from a wide-ranging record collection, he occupies a unique space that blends the deeper ends of house, techno, and trance, in a way that appeals to both large audiences and hardcore music nerds alike.

We caught up with David to talk shop on the story behind Transmigrations, and what it’s like running an independent label in 2025.

He is an invincible romantic, an old raider of Belgrade dance floors. Ever since the 90s, he has been carried away by exciting vocals, chaos in house, 303 in the heart, acid in the dark, 
chansons and drama, and those recognizable queer-a-billy dance moves are triggered by fat bass and disco fantasies. He says he's not a DJ, he just ecstatically breaks (or is broken by) the sound in front and behind the DJ booth. Strongly believes in clean mix. It gets hot and groovy, it gets explosive.

Currently resident of Belgrade’s finest MRAK parties in Drugstore, Dim bar and Karmakoma club. 

llija Milošević, born in Belgrade 1980, is an independent producer, culture and entertainment industry professional since the late ‘90s, a conscious member of the society and a loud fighter for justice. “By day” he is a top music industry executive in the Balkans region, while “at night” he produces and supports queer theatre performances and parties. He occasionally hits the stage as a DJ, journalist, speaker, or a singer.

I knew right away that I wanted to collaborate with this artist in some way, so being invited to take part in this remix project was a real honor. Getting some of the Bed of Roses crew involved didn’t take much convincing either — everyone was excited to contribute,” says Break Mode, head of Bed of Roses.
