Francesco Bonora & Refresh - One Day In June (Plastic City)

Souleance return with a brand new EP for First Word Records. Following the huge success of 'La Beat Tape' in early 2013, the French duo have been busy in the studio preparing a 6-tracker aimed squarely at the dancefloor. Souleance is the result of the partnership between producer Fulgeance (check his new LP 'Cubes') and DJ Soulist of legendary Paris event What The Funk. In 2008 they released their debut EP 'Le Monde' which along with follow up 'Le Plaisir' is one of First Word's all-time bestsellers. 2012 saw their debut LP 'La Belle Vie' released to widespread critical acclaim, winning them fans including Gilles Peterson, Lefto and Laurent Garnier. With an eye-catching live show now up and running (check their recent charismatic appearance on Boiler Room for evidence) Souleance are going from strength to strength.
The new EP is exactly what you'd expect from Souleance, taking in 80s influenced electro (Brotha, Broobecker & Vacances), audacious sample flips (Georgian Kiss), infectious-grooved hip hop (Mais Um) and up-tempo tropical beats (Tropicalidad). All six tracks are guaranteed club winners that only Souleance could deliver.

Give Me One Reason (Bootleg)

An essential piece of DJ History here! Starting in the early 1980s, Mills, using the name "The Wizard", was a recurring guest DJ on "The Electrifying Mojo" radio show on WJLB in Detroit. He performed DJ tricks like beat juggling and scratching during his sets (some of which were pre-recorded).

A1 track from the forthcoming 2nd Golden Teacher EP, "Do Not Go Gently Into That Good Night" due out late July.

Ultra limited (250 copies) hand made optical illusion "box" sleeve designed and constructed by Golden Teacher. After these are sold out it will be available in a generic Optimo Music sleeve. Due to the costs involved in constructing the sleeves the record will be slightly more expensive than a normal 12" single but will not be sold at some over inflated price. Optimo Music heartily disapproves of labels who add a huge mark up to their releases and profit from the limited availability. While we only have the resources (and time!) to make a limited number of special sleeves we don't think music should be "limited" and we strive to make all our releases available to all who want them, hence the 2nd pressing in generic sleeve.

This EP is fairly out there and features 4 tracks that might best be described as Fourth World freakouts, combining analogue circuitry with psychedelically effected played percussion and chanting. All tracks were recorded live to tape with minimal overdubs and then slightly edited at Glasgow's Green Door studios. Golden Teacher rule. If you get a chance, see them live. Your synapses will thank you.

It was due out in early July but unfortunately the stampers broke at the pressing plant while they were trying to press it so it has been delayed until the end of July. Release date 29/07/2013. Distributed by Kompakt.
