Carbon Based Lifeforms - Sacred Fire 05 - Boom Festival 2014

On New Year’s Eve 2024, I had the honor of playing a DJ set at Réveillon Duna – an extraordinary and exclusive celebration held in the stunning Lençóis Maranhenses, Brazil. The festival took place in a protected reservoir hidden within the dunes of this surreal desert landscape, making it one of the most unique and unforgettable locations I’ve ever played at.

The production was absolutely world-class: intimate, thoughtfully designed, and carried out with so much love and attention to detail. The crowd was incredible – kind-hearted, open-minded, and extremely welcoming. It was an absolute joy to be part of this experience.

I had so much fun playing my set and I’m truly happy to finally share it with you.

About this special episode: 

These are two next-level DJ mixes that our old friend Desert Raven created from a powerful vision that he had about balance and sacred duality:

Mix 1 called "Yin", a downtempo/psychill/psydub mix. It will reflect the night energies and deeper seasons of the year, Autumn and Winter. More focus on the mystery aspect of vision.

Mix 2 called "Yang" and will radiate stronger energy and power at midtempo and uptempo BPM's, with the growing light of Spring and Summer, with the revelational aspect of the vision, the outward manifestation.

These, by their very vision and scope, are meant to be longer mixes. Desert Raven is sharing his multi-layered sounds, vibes, styles, and grooves, which is a typical set for him, full of progression and deep, powerful storytelling, of which there is nothing like it out there. A very mystical flow and groove.

Next, every set for him is a spiritual experience, a true journey of the soul, and he listens to what his soul, his heart, his mind, his spirit tell him to play, in union with his audience and also in faithfulness to the true vision within him. It is a perfect balance of harmony between him, the artist, and his community. We are one in the mix, so he cannot put limitations and restrictions on the mixes. They are alive and need to be free to best let the energy, spirit, and groove flow as they need to.

Venturing into the heart of the electronic music scene in his early twenties, Olendo found his calling amidst the hypnotic allure of Minimal Deep Tech Music, under the artistic venture of Nuendo. In 2022, a transformative residency at a Tulum-inspired enclave in Sydney rekindled Olendo's creative flame, steering him toward the enchanting realm of downtempo house music. This was a 12:00 - 14:00 set in the crazy sunshine (shaded..) for some context.. :) Also, in the interests of openness, this is a backup of my set, as I couldn't record the actual set, due to technical issues (and even had to rely on this backup at times). Music is my passion. Constantly in search of beauty, I marvel at the sheer size of this sea full of emotions, the ever-growing variety of styles and flavours. It’s such a blessing how good music can touch the heart and rise consciousness. My deepest gratitude goes to all the producing artists who share the divine spark!

As a digital DJ / remixer I love building sophisticated mashups in a wide range of
* ambient/meditation (no beat)
* psybient, space & erotic chillout
* downtempo chilldance
* ecstatic dance & 5 rhythms
* organic house, melodic techno
* psychedelic trance

At the moment, my favorite style is ethno influenced psychedelic house 80 to 125 bpm, with occasional excursions into pure ambient.
Go to "Playlists" to find my sets sorted by genres. Each set comes with a track list, although I don't usually play tracks just as they are. Instead, I love creating musical collages, mashing up well selected elements of two or more single tracks carefully into a duet, combining their essence and most brilliant moments into new beauty. This creative process is complex, but it puts me in flow state and pure joy. It's my 2nd biggest addiction, only topped by my 1st: Going out, performing live, seeing the faces of dancers in bliss, feeling that we are truly all ONE.

I don't usually play in clubs, but at my own events, both indoors and outdoors, with a fantastic and very conscious audience.
