Edward Montagu, 1st Earl of Sandwich, (27 July 1625 – 28 May 1672) was an English landowner, infantry officer, and later naval officer and politician, who sat in the House of Commons at various points between 1645 and 1660. He served Oliver Cromwell loyally in the 1650s, but went on to play a considerable part in the Restoration of King Charles II, and was subsequently rewarded with several court offices. Sandwich served as the English ambassador to Portugal from 1661 to 1662, and the ambassador to Spain from 1666 to 1668. He later became an admiral, serving in the two Anglo-Dutch Wars during the reign of Charles II; he was killed at the Battle of Solebay.

James Feldkamp was born in Roseburg, Oregon, and laid the foundation for his dynamic career at Oregon State University, where he received a B.S. in Business. His career commenced in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Naval Flight Officer, particularly distinguished as a Counter-Measures Officer and Navigator on the EA-6B, an aircraft known for electronic warfare. His military service was highlighted by missions from the USS Midway during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991.

After his naval career, he joined the FBI as a Special Agent in Norfolk, Virginia, where he played a pivotal role in setting up the Tidewater Joint Terrorism Task Force. Additionally, he was tasked with aerial surveillance operations, a critical component in monitoring criminal and terrorist activities. His political ambitions saw him run for the U.S. Congress as the Republican nominee for Oregon's 4th Congressional District in the 2004 and 2006 elections.

In 2007, James was recalled to active duty to contribute to the establishment of what would later become the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO). His academic pursuits also flourished as he taught courses related to terrorism and security at George Washington University, George Mason University, and Georgetown University. His scholarly work includes authoring and editing the textbook "Theory and Politics of Terrorism," published by Cognella Academic Publishing.

His professional expertise extended to roles such as the Lead Consultant at Complete Threat Preparedness, Inc., where he has been instrumental since 2017, providing training and consultation on various security challenges. He also works as a freelance editor at Reedsy, focusing on manuscripts related to terrorism and intelligence. Feldkamp's adventurous streak is evident in his participation in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, a testament to his enduring spirit and love for challenges.
