i often wonder how you are doing. i know i could send you a text to ask and i know you would reply, but i do not wish to bother you anymore. did you finally fix your sleep schedule? do you still feel tired all the time? *is life better when I am not in it*? i still think of you with affection, i am not sure if that will ever change. you see, i was never taught how to unlove someone but i am learning life without you. i can't say i enjoy it. i am left with nothing but memories, i am made of nothing but pieces of what you left behind. i will perhaps build myself anew, let go of the pieces. but i can't seem to do that now. so i will let myself think of you and miss you until my bones get sick of it. what you left behind doesn't feel like needles pricking on my skin anymore, it has transitioned into endless numbness that at times presents itself in the form of rocks stuck in my throat at flashes of our past selves. i am no longer the person that you left behind either, i have grown and changed and i know you have too. maybe the you i had so much longing for doesn't exist anymore but i know that a tiny dimple still appears on your cheeks whenever your smile, maybe your favorite color changed too and you have likes and dislikes that i will never know yet i still hope that when you listen to this specific song you still think of me. is it selfish of me to write this? it shouldn't be. i am not asking you for anything, no longer anticipating your return. i have made peace with it all. you are more present in your absence than our time together. my body is prepared for something my brain won't let me remember. and there was always a reason why i never told you all of this.
