The first Musik For Autobahns was a delight: softly-softly ambient and subtle cuts from the likes of Move D, Suzanne Kraft, Roman Flügel and plenty more besides. Even amongst Rush Hour's bounty that year, it stood proudly out. A ripple of excitement went through BR HQ upon finding out Gerd Janson was lining up a second, with no shortage of marquee signings all coming correct with their A game.

A number of heads come together to translate these thoughts into sound - from Fort Romeau's Drive-esque "Seleno" joyride through to the propulsive "Melancholy" of Disco Nihilist. Perhaps none elicit as many feels as the enveloping opener from Leon Vynehall though.

As well as being a mesmeric mimic of accelerating down Bundesautobahn 5 at daybreak, "Midnight on Rainbow Road" got our Debut nod for three main reasons: firstly, it kicked off last year's sublime set from Gerd & Ata (so, about time); second, it's a welcome return for Mr Vynehall after a richly deserved breakout year; third, dude's got previous with N64 titling. And that's something we can all get behind.

Leon Vynehall "Midnight On Rainbow Road" - Boiler Room Debuts

Here’s a dude and a label you don’t know just yet, so allow us to make a formal introduction for the pair. Decka is a young Bristolian producer-DJ; SPE:C is a new Berlin imprint. All acquainted, all familiar? Good stuff.

“002” is a slab of stomping, heavyweight techno that belies Decka’s relatively fresh face. Taking cues from all the right people – Randomer, Matrixxman, early Objekt – and shot through with a particular kind of 4am-in-a-barebrick-tunnel rave SFX (the decidedly Wachowskian green cover art says it all really), it’s a serious statement of intent.

Line those pre-orders up this way. The full release is out on Sept 25th.

Decka “002” - Boiler Room Debuts

If you happened to jump into Ben UFO's magnificent set from our recent Dekmantel x IR takeover in Barcelona, this Mosca gem will sound familiar. The Hessle Audio guru slides "White Mice" into play early on, much to the delight of those two-stepping in the BG. Those cascading tom-toms lurk ever so neatly below the drum machine's uniform clamour; that throbbing, Doomsday-like dub effect irks its way in intermittently — a steady roller of the highest order, custom made for the dawn of any set. Catch this — the fourth release to come from Mosca's very own Not So Much label — when it arrives on November 23rd.

Tackling the highlights of Nick Höppner's recent full-length Folk is rock solid BR fav, The Black Madonna, who has (surprise, surprise!) turned it into a stormer. Accompanied, as usual, by an eminently "Relate"-able message of humble gratitude, the real calling cards here are the rising, rousing synths that wouldn't sound out of place on a vintage Severed Heads 12". We're informed that it's a Panorama Bar melter, which makes sense: what begins an inviting outstretched palm winds up a slamming clenched fist.

The Folk remix 12" is out very soon, via Ostgut Ton. Keep eyes peeled.

Two of the Black Madonna's most sought after early tracks return to circulation alongside one burning new jam on Goodbye To All This, the latest release from Stripped & Chewed. 

Drawn from the Chicago label's 2012 compilation Livin' For The City EP, the piano dappled joy of "Exodus" luxuriates across side A, spreading the good word with a pounding beat. "We Don't Need No Music (Thank You, Rahaan)" from SCRS004 takes another whirl around the dancefloor, its pinwheeling horns and infectious vocals pulling even wallflowers into the fray. And in case two remastered sure-shots aren't enough, the brand new "Who Do You Need" closes the record with a soulful thwack: half uplifting house, half blistering techno -- all peak-time fodder. A fine addition to the Black Madonna's discography alongside records for Argot, The Nite Owl Diner, Hometaping Is Killing Music, and of course Stripped & Chewed.
