PREMIERE: Jonas Bruder - Metabolism [MAT012]

Västkustdröm (Dreaming of the west coast).
This tune is one of those that just was meant to pop up in my head, go through my fingers and into my computer, becoming a song, effortlessly and spontaneously. 
I was taking the train to go visit my brother in Gothenburg one particurally sunny and uplifting saturday afternoon. We hadn´t seen each other for a while so we decided to meet up, watch bad movies and drink way too many beers together. 
While I was sitting there, I gazed out through the window when it suddenly struck me:
Wow. What a beautiful country we live in. The Swedish west coast up to Gothenburg...what a sight! What a day! 
FIlled with emotions of joy and praise I picked up my computer and started jamming a set. While arriving, the track "Västkustdröm" was born. But, I´m convinced it had always been there with me. It just needed the right time to come out. And this was that day.

Introduction in English:

People often tell me that when they are with a loved one who is about to die, they feel particularly close to them. 
Sometimes, in such moments, the history of their relationship flashes before their eyes. 
Some report reaching a deeper peace with the person in question shortly before their death. Often, the dying say things they have never been able to say in their lifetime. For example, a father who, shortly before his death, is able to tell his daughter for the first and only time that he has always loved her.
Many of those left behind tell me that they did not want to let the dying person go, but that they somehow realized that they had to let go of their loved one so that they could pass away as peacefully as possible; that they could not “die with them,” but had to continue living alone. 
And it is not uncommon for those who are approaching death to tell their accompanying relatives that they should continue to live well and in peace.
All of these stories inspired me to write the song “Mourir (Dying).” And as always, for such fundamental existential experiences, I choose the language that best expresses these radical moments of transition: French.

The great singer, activist and soul sister Sandra Izsadore is back in the mix. She graced the international music stage on 1976's 'Upside Down' and has worked with  legendary artists Fela, Osibisa, Ginger Baker and many more. She influenced Fela to write about and focus on cultural matters of Africa, the Afro-Diaspora and human rights. She helped Fela conceive of Afro-Beat in 1969 in Los Angeles. Pleasuremaker wrote this song channeling Fela Kuti, Sandra and the history that tied this moment together as we face the most blatant disregard for human lives, human rights and for the struggle all people of color and poor and working class folks face all around the world each day. A new day is dawning, we must recognize where we have been and where we are at to ever truly make a brighter world.
This track highlights what is happening on earth right now in 2015 and has been an ongoing struggle for justice world wide.

We dedicate this song to Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, Treyvon Martin, and the countless other innocent victims of murder, police brutality, and racism.
