Hamburg’s Enbeezee returns this April with a twelve-track various artist collection curated by Han Duo and Fluctuosa.
‘’After the rerelease of JGB’s Gyra EP and previous vinyl and digital releases, Enbeezee releases its first VA Compilation. Co-curated by Han Duo from Berlin/ Hamburg and Fluctuosa from Istanbul. This package is a wild combination of tracks from artists between Berlin, Istanbul, Brooklyn, Karlsruhe and Rio de Janeiro. The idea started in the half year, Vincent aka. Han Duo spent in Istanbul, where he met Dogukhan aka. Fluctuosa, who introduced him to the underground scene of the city. As Covid hit right after the stay in Istanbul, the Comp aims to share profits between all artists equally to support one another in the pandemic. Putting together such an international and decentralized curation tries to give a sense of international solidarity for artists in the underground music scene. The label share is also waved for this.’’
Across the twelve tracks the project shines light on a variety of styles and genres under the electronic music umbrella, such as glitched out IDM on cuts like JGB’s ‘Café Arabica’, Capgraz’ ‘Proxima 55’ and Fluctuosa’s ‘Usingtons’.
There’s also some more cinematic electronica sounds such as DJ Death’s ‘You Should Chill’ and Kuprion’s tripped out ‘Enter Taste’. Also on offer are some more straight 4/4 cuts like HV’s ethereal ‘Postoned’, Han Duo’s break-led ‘Honaki’ and Max In The World’s acid-tinged workout ‘Grounded On Earth’.

Yoann Pisterman is a visual artist and multi-instrumentalist composer from the French Riviera who is now based in Berlin. Water Groove is his debut album , an impressionistic sound journey into waves, frequencies and electronic resonance. Yoann employs loops and repetitive patterns, interwoven between drones and melodic elements, to create magical, transportative music with echoes of the classic Japanese ambient and New Age music of the Eighties and the trippy Kosmische of 1970s Germany. It’s a tribute to some of Pisterman’s musical influences that, in his words, have “reached a cosmic sound quality”, such as Hans-Joachim Roedelius, François de Roubaix, Geinoh Yamashirogumi and Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Water Groove next album is a calm and airy , a mesmerising voyage into Yoann’s joyful sonic ecosystem. For recording he used a reduced set up comprising a Korg Volca FM synthesizer, a Korg Minilogue and a Doepfer Dark Energy, along with samples and field recordings that were rearranged within a DAW - digital audio workstation. At the end of the composition process Yoann asked Andrew Claristidge (Acid Washed) to mix the album in his full analog studio in order to give space, dynamics and organic shapes.

In common with the Japanese ambient artists of that golden period there is a strong connection between Yoann’s music and architecture. The artwork is taken from a study by Yoann of landscape architecture, a series of visions and reflections put down using ink on paper. Whereas Yoann’s sonic palette is broad and colourful, for the artwork he has reduced his tools and the process. The aim was to make the person looking at it more observant, with the colours in the imagination of the beholder.

Mix 006 // MAX IN THE WORLD

Today we launch Galactic Live, a twist on our series focussed on live acts, bands and musicians. It will drop intermittently on Thursdays as a surprise. 

We start the series with one-man act 'Burgerservice' who is: Jan Tromp (1995). He casually describes his sound as “Being stuck in the Albert Heijn for 24 hours, nobody being guilty, cheap ice tea and cycling businessmen”. The podcast consists of finished songs, sounds samples, raw sketches and a live recording and is described as “clumsy wave/punk with a Limburgian accent”. Hope you enjoy this!
