Bucharest-raised and perpetually restless, DJ Slim Fit is the kind of artist for whom genre boundaries simply do not apply. Driven by a hyperactive curiosity that has never once settled, he moves through styles and tempos, and with his super well known AKA Pîrvu already in the bag, he has already grown into his DJ Slim Fit alias. Alongside his partner Alexandra, they have been nurturing their Apricot Jam party series and there are plenty of unmissable dates already on the horizon.

Release wise, The Apricots will be appearing on Gene On Earth’s sprawling Limousine Dream VA “LIfe Spiral”. One listen and it is clear that their track “The Cat Of Tomorrow” perfectly sums up their combined energy and influences. This direct line to the dancefloor segues easily into this week’s Trommel InSession edition where DJ Slim Fit takes charge of the decks. Beginning where “The Cat Of Tomorrow” left off, his 2 hour mix is a tour through upbeat trancey moods and punchy euphoric house.

Robbiejn put together this mix utilising a custom pitch conversion on a pair of Technics 1210 MK2s, which allowed a lot of the vinyl to be played in scenarios they weren’t originally produced for, or usually heard in. 

Alongside this, some new / forthcoming digital tracks were included, with Robbiejn making sure to have master tempo off on the CDJs to give the same chugged-out feeling.

The mix starts with a few ambient selections to ease you in and gradually settles into a warm, driving groove across house / electro / techno, with the danceable section sitting comfortably at 117 BPM.. expect blissy / dubbed-out / pad-heavy soundscapes throughout, with a touch of  melancholia to boot. 

Featuring a few selections from the recent part 1 of the 10 Years of Off The Grid compilation.

Impossibly rare slab: a capital-C-cult bit of millennial business from perhaps the most enigmatic member of the Gush Collective crew, who in the early 00s not so much redefined, but refined UKG… and then some.

Alongside folks like Herb-LF and Lorenzo, Yoshino was a stalwart of this early 2000s Germany UKG movement: releasing and remixing on the legendary but somewhat overlooked Germany labels Draft Recordings & Gush. It was was here these cats smoothed out the UKG sound with a spliffed out vibe that fucked with the raw warm herby sounds of Tyree Cooper and QX-1; Yoshino, more than most though, flirted with sounds you wouldn’t expect to find in the UKG realm: think ethereally stuff man, I’m talking Placid Angels with pseudo Japanese pop sensibilities of Faye Wong - but when when the cards fall down, his productions equally bang. So: splice in a bit of Serious Danger and Makesome Breaksome for good measure, light a phat one or zwei… & welcome to the wheelhouse.

'Back to Basics' is a celebration of Yoshino as an artist: featuring a repress from our favourite Gush Collective stash (which is now so dear it makes me wish I’d better taken care of my records at after parties); three first time cuts of his on wax that we’ve curated from over the years that feature appearances from Peaky Beats and Miss Angel - and of course, there’s a killer remix from deep digging DJ and producer, Enchanted Rhythms (whose Youtube archive is packed to the veritable rafters with the most overlooked gems and updated with such frequency that it is hard to keep up). Apart from being a head’s head, Rich is also part of the Pace familia, so we are happy to welcome him officially to catalog, on a terrain he has endlessly kept fresh since day dot - he knows his shit here, and of course, he taps into that Yoshino flava big time.
