"State of Mind” is the first single off EMERGER's upcoming full-length album. We wrote and produced it during lockdown, while the global pandemic felt particularly dire. It's written from a place of hope for the future; a reminder to try and make the best of the current moment.

With the US elections looming and the press dominated by Trump's daily scandals and missteps, Creep Negativo was inspired by the insane idea that our world leaders can be  pussy grabbing, perma tanned epitomes of evil.

Written as a boastful, first person narrative, an imaginary eavesdropping on a phone call, from an innebrriated Boris Johnson to Nigel Garage, after the Brexit vote, discussing their populist hero, Donald J Trump. 

Contradictions and bravado, in one verse we are asked Choose your camp My Brother, I'm on your side forever, yet are left with Please don't choose me lover, I'll leave your side forever.

The chorus finds the leader demanding "This is what I want" repetitively, yet casually slipping in "Here's a little thing", in the style we often see, in todays politicians. 

As the crescendo of the outro rises in speed and tension, the desperation becomes more apparent, as the demand of "This is What I Need" becomes the pleas of "Come and Get It!".

"From the stimulating intro on you’ll tap your feet, without even noticing it. This is the wake-up-call I want to hear when I can’t get out of my bed in the morning. You simply can’t resist this shot of adrenaline. This is what elevating pop is all about. Vitalizing, energizing, and galvanizing. In a normal world, this should be a global hit. Oh yeah, I feel quite euphoric and, trust me, you’ll have your heart beat as fast as mine after just one spin. Hopefully, we can all come out of the lockdown shadows pretty soon."
