Established in 1992, the Ward Irish Music Archives houses the largest public collection of Irish music in America. It is named after John J. Ward Jr., father of Irish Fest founder Ed Ward. The archive currently consists of more than 40,000 Irish music recordings and pieces of memorabilia ranging from rare 78 rpm's, LP's and sheet music to song books, instruments, and concert memorabilia. Many of the archives items are extremely difficult to find today, and our diverse collections focus on subjects such as Irish traditional music, Irish folk songs, Scottish music, and Irish contributions to American popular music.

The Boston College Libraries are delighted to present The Séamus Connolly Collection of Irish Music. This digital collection features traditional tunes and songs collected by master fiddle player Séamus Connolly, Sullivan Artist in Residence in Irish Music at Boston College (2004 to 2015) and National Heritage Fellow (2013). Freely available, the collection offers over 330 audio recordings featuring more than 130 musicians via SoundCloud, with accompanying stories, transcriptions, and introductory essays. All of the tracks and playlists within this collection are under a CC-BY-NC license.

Open Ear is an annual festival that takes place on Sherkin Island, Ireland. We aim to traverse a multiplicity of musical languages & landscapes, and to have a dance.

‘Knight, Briggs et al’ has been set up to house archival recordings of the folk and traditional music associated with the Knight family of Surrey and the Briggs family of Newcastle upon Tyne.

The collection includes music from the Knight Brothers (Simon, Chris, Andrew & Patrick) and the Briggs Sisters (Anna, Lesley, Astrid, Gael, Stephanie & Claire), amongst others.

Furthermore, the archive serves as a platform for John Knight's culturally priceless 1970's and 80's folk club, tune session and kitchen table recordings, which are slowly but surely being digitised by his descendants.
