We’ve paired Mina’s mix with a work by Brazilian artist Cildo Meireles titled Babel. The “tower of incomprehension,” Meireles has called it, is a stack of second-hand analogue radios tuned to different stations and adjusted to the minimum audible volume. What happens is a static hum of nonstop sound—information, music, and ads blending and competing for our ears.

The Hot Mass podcast series is back and for the next 4 editions we'll be looking back on the past year in advance of our 6 year anniversary. Each set was record live at Hot Mass and for this round we'll be featuring two of our residents, along with two guests. 

@tabasheer is a Pittsburgh local and one of the most studious and dedicated DJs around. That dedication is shown in this mix ahead of Answer Code Request from last May. Advice for the DJs, artists and producers of our community: Don't be afraid to try out new mediums. Keep sharing your ideas and voice. Collaborate with friends and artists that you respect, provide them feedback and mentor each other. Gain ownership over space and do what you want with it. Take space where you can and remember your greatness and worth, even while the world tries to take that from you/us. Be unrelenting in all media. Take breaks when you want to and don't feel guilty about taking time for yourself. Taking care of yourself always comes first.

We paired Nancy and Erin's mix with an infamous detail of a poster by artist Jeremy Deller. The yellow smiley face—eponymous of the acid house genre—has the words "Do you remember the First time?" with the "First" and "time" replacing the eyes of the face echos the moments Nancy and Erin highlight in their interview. The first time—which could mean the first time on a dance floor, the first time listening to music, or something totally different—is a method we've also been using on Moods to discover each other's paths and directions. "How did we get here?" has really become the question we've been answering here. And I want to thank y'all again for sticking it with me here, and for the future. We're archiving together <3
