Giant Swan are debuting on Mannequin Records through the Death of the Machines serie, the dancefloor/experimental oriented side of the label, dedicated to new artists.

Robin Stewart & Harry Wright team up to create an acerbic marriage of energised, aggressive dance music, quaking bass and hypnotic electronic noise. Across a table of machines and pedals, incorporating abused guitar and liberal vocal manipulation, Giant Swan create a cross-breed of hypnotic bass, industrial percussion and disorientating energy delivered with telepathic intricacy.

Along with his mate Yan, Fred has been attentively digging for the latest reincarnations of echoing sounds on the verge of house and techno. You can see him each month at Ankali warming up or closing the Yuggadus party.

The bimonthly ritual, directed and executed by Agnes Aves, paints the perfect picture of what a DJ’s deejay is supposed to do behind the decks. Her cold-blooded precision and attention to detail could be attributed to her formal education in fine arts and classical piano (theory to be verified by her). Agnes also runs NOED, short for No One Ever Dances. A mix and event series showcasing quality music by quality artists. 

What else can we say without sounding like a pathetic groupie? Passionate humans like her is the reason we do what we do so we are very excited for Agnes’ offering to the Aperitif series.

Exhausted Modern's debut full-length titled The Year of the Rat is a proof of the thought-provocation that author's name generates. Released on his own Endless Illusion imprint, the album doesn't have all the answers, it simply offers Exhausted Modern's perception of the modern times and also the energy to do something with them. The title, borrowed from the Chinese zodiac calendar, doesn't slip to mere esoteric prognosis, it fittingly and provocatively comments on broken mechanics of society, capitalistic hierarchisation and emotional frustration of its victims. Despite the dystopian character of Exhausted Modern's sound, which ranges from fast melancholia through suspicious calmness to slowly bubbling rage, it doesn't feel like the end of the world. It's critical artistic statement of a person who despite seeing all the darkness, also sees the way out of it.
