About the Artist
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil is known for many things: Beautiful sun-tanned beaches, exotically enticing women, scrumptious cuisines and now, Freddy Hajas. Born in 1975, Freddy became entranced by music at a young age, playing imaginary drums and guitar (much to the chagrin of his poor motheres furniture) and in his teens became infatuated with his now rabid obsession: synthpop music. Freddy began taking careful notes from his favorite electro-pop heroes such as Information Society, New Order, Red Flag, Cause & Effect and Duran Duran. Many of the artists found in this volume of Synthphony REMIXed will be familiar to those involved in the growing synthpop gscene.h Southern Californiafs own Color Theory has received the Hajas treatment to a cover of a Depeche Mode classic. Two of Germanyfs best electronic bands, !Distain and New Concept. Virtual Server featuring Beborn Beton is Russiafs famous DJ Ram. The Dignity of Labour (TDOL) is a fresh American act which is sure to open many eyes with their originality and poignant lyricism. Veteran active electro acts such as Anything Box, Real Life and the classic duo of Will Loconto/Steve Paul (T-42) appear alongside eager newcomers like Canadafs Droom, Project David (Voice In Fashion), Opium and Tristraum.

‘Umi’ – first single to be taken from ‘Everything Else Matters’ due out in January.

Pinkshinyultrablast, are a five-piece band from Saint-Petersburg in Russia. The first single ‘Umi’ is due for release on November 10th. The song is indicative of an album full of melodic gems. Umi is rich with complexity, while underpinned with a beauty that both beguiles and entrances. The song evokes the spirit of bands like Slowdive and The Cocteau Twins, but at the same time remaining undeniably modern.

Hailing from a city more synonymous with the State Conservatory rather than a gang of shoegaze addicts, they’ve been compared to Lush. But this is no mere throwback tribute - due to their sharp, icy electronics and ability to subvert the genre, bringing something new to the table. They possess not only the spirit of late 80s/early 90s British bands like Ride, but also machine-made sounds of the same era from Sabres Of Paradise or Global Communication, not to mention wider vibrations like Cluster, Popul Vuh, Terry Riley and Philip Glass.

Disdain for a stagnant scene can often be a driving force of creativity; the band say of St Petersburg that, “we realised the local indie scene was totally boring and wanted to play something radically different”. That vision has been realised – this is a sound brimming with playful melody and finely-crafted songwriting. Imagine the scope of a Caribou record, fronted by Elizabeth Fraser soundtracking a grizzly Raskolnikov crime.

The band take their name from an Astrobrite album, an act who were, according to the band, instrumental in how they “researched spaces between ambient, heavy guitar and pop music” .The spaces are what stand out, the production creates a dream-like affair, while space to breathe and reflect on the beauty of the music is accommodated. There exists a sparseness to their sound, that, in turn gives spaciousness, even expansiveness.

Pure by Endless Shame

ENDLESS SHAME is an electronic band from the South of Sweden. The music is inspired by various types of electronic music and alternative rock and pop.
SHORT BIO
Endless Shame started in the 90:s but it wasn’t until 2007 that they released their debut album ”Price of Devotion” on the Swedish record label ”K-Town Records”. The album got positive reviews and was nominated for ”best album of the year” in the cathegory ”Synth” at ”Manifestgalan” in Sweden.
In November 2009 the band released their second album ”Unspoken Words” on the American label ”A Different Drum”. The album got a great deal of attention amongst fans of synth pop, EBM and electro. The single ”Pure” went on to become a dance hit at clubs playing electronic music.
In 2010 Endless Shame decided to work together with Elektro Kommando in Italy for the release of their third album ”Generation
Blind”. Along with the album there will also be a couple of singles and a music video released. The album is set to be released in the spring of 2011.
MEMBERS
Mika Rossi – Mika contributes greatly to the band’s sound and is often the one who focuses on details in the music. On stage he plays keyboard and percussion.
Anders Olsson – Anders has a solid musical background and has worked in two of London’s biggest recording studios. Anders is the practical member of the band and is often also the band’s link to the outside world. On stage he plays keyboard and sings backing vocals.
Mattias Levin – Mattias outlines the basis of the music and writes all lyrics. On stage he sings and plays guitar.
