During my dj residency as "MENDOZA" at Makos ~ on the Strip in Lafayette LA from 1997 to 2001 some of the best breaks tracks to ever be produced came out... I was forunate enough to land the gig after playing at "Divine Intervention" April 1997 in New Orleans LA.  During this period I established myself as a prominent dj in South Louisiana, helped plan and promote some of the biggest raves to be thrown in the south with my friends in Sundance Productions and began the journey of learning how to produce.  

Makos was a late night place that was jammed packed every Friday and Saturday night on the McKinley St Strip in Lafayette LA.  It was truly an underground type place, nothing fancy just a killer sound system, some intelligent lighting and about 1000 breakers throwin' down till the sun came up.  With the music being the heart and soul of Makos this mix compilation was recorded one night at the club in 1998, no computers, no cd's, all vinyl... with just two Technics 1200's and a Rane MP24 mixer.  If your ears are so tuned, please forgive the quality of the audio as it was recorded to tape and I just recently played in onto my computer and mastered it.  The opening track is the 2nd track that I produced and released on my label "Sundance Recordings" with my long time friend Russell Saltzman.  It's entitled "The Welcoming Sound".  The rest is, in my opinion, the best tracks to come out that year.  Hope you nJoy and catch a glimpse of just how we used to do it late night in the South!!!  Peace Yall....
