Sonnrize:  It all started in 1997 with the purchase of a Roni Size EP.  Jarret Wallace, a.k.a. “Sonnrize” had made the transition from percussionist to electronic musical innovator.  At the age of 4, Jarret started snare drum lessons, an experience which led to jazz drumming proficiency by age 10.  A natural feel for rhythm impelled Jarret on a journey to explore fusion and jazz sounds throughout high school.  Soon after, Jarret’s discovery of electronic music was the tipping point at which Sonnrize, the producer, was born from successful attempts to assimilate the sounds of the soul with improvisation—rhythmically linking Jarret's roots in jazz to the delicately cultivated atmospheres of electronica.  Having been influenced by artists including Carl Cox, Darren Emerson, Jeff Mills, and Jori Hulkkonen, since 1999, performing under the Sonnrize stage name has been Jarret’s sole mode of public musical expression.  Today , the Sonnrize moniker stands not only as an homage to Jarret’s earliest body of production work, but also to the alternations of dark and bright electronic vibes—the signature sounds of Sonnrize. 

I am a Techno/Electro/Experimental DJ/Producer that is inspired by life with a passion for Electronic Music.

Coming from a background of the rave scene from 97-2000 in grand rapids, Kalamazoo, Detroit, and Chicago, I've learned how to play the music I was most influenced by. My style is a nod to both Detroit and Chicago, with a dash of Ibiza. I love playing house music and techno, I try to be diverse in what I mix. I have nothing but respect for everyone who paved the way for me to eventually take up mixing myself. I have love for every crew in Detroit, Chicago, Grand Rapids, And Kalamazoo. I do this for the love of where I came from.... I hope that you enjoy my mixing ;)
