In the summer of 2013, Above & Beyond performed some of their best-loved songs acoustically as part of a 15-piece band, across four sold out shows at London's famous Porchester Hall which formed the basis of the "Above & Beyond Acoustic" studio album. The album was recorded in the spring and summer of 2013 and features a 24-piece orchestra. 

"The acoustic project is a reconnection with the musicians that we were before we met", said Above & Beyond's Tony McGuinness. "The songs have been on an interesting journey to get here because we tend to write in a fairly acoustic way anyway. We don't just stick a bit of vocal over a dance track - that's not how we work. We try to start with a song and it's usually only later down the line that we take certain elements from that song and progress them into a more dancefloor-friendly version".

With Above & Beyond "Acoustic", the group are putting aside their CDJs and lighting rigs to showcase their deeply-rooted musicianship and classical training. A band first and foremost, Above & Beyond are songwriters as much as they are DJs. Working with three singers, a string quartet, harpist, drummer and bassist, Above & Beyond are pushing the boundaries of dance music. Tony McGuinness sings and plays guitar, mandolin and ukulele, Paavo Siljamäki plays the grand piano and cello, and Jono Grant plays the Rhodes piano, guitar and vibraphone.

In many ways we feel we are the same haha jokes, but Adventure were one of the few artists who reached out to us when we started and were cool and supported our music, so when they hit us up about remixing Wonder our fav track off their last album we couldn't resist, that and we want to collab with them so we really had no other option. That said, we think the remix turned out great, we actually see a little bits of our previous work in it, little nods to Around us and Julian. In the end we hope we did the track justice infusing it with a tasteful amount of uptempo progressive house while still remaining true to our style."

Additionally there were so many cinematic parts to the song to use particularly the string. Silk Royal is thrilled to present Silk Remixed 04, the fourth installment of the annual series, featuring various veteran talents and rising stars in progressive. Kicking off the compilation is Nigel Good's jubilant remix of "Sumr" by Dezza & Shoreliners. Fresh off his debut artist album, which reached #1 overall on Beatport, Nigel treats us to a sparkling, complextro-influenced progressive gem, rife with feel-good vibes. Vintage & Morelli, one of the standout artists from Silk's Arrival division, offers a fresh, peak-hour take on "Night Time" by Sound Quelle. A bouncy house rhythm sits below a stormy and evocative lead, punctuated by a haunting vocal sample. The main break is a goosebumps-inducing aural experience, as the vocal motif and piano poignantly coalesce. Aeron Aether's "Synthanelia" still finds a home in our radio and live sets; Jayeson Andel, a breakthrough artist on our imprint, offers a full-on trance stormer with his new rendering, which has received early radio support from Arty. The memorable string themes of the original soar above an adrenalin-fueled, stadium-rocking groove. French talent Matt Fax, another leader of Arrival, offers a new interpretation of one of Silk Royal's early releases, Pconvolve's "Cosmology". As the title implies, celestially-inspired synths transport the listener to the far reaches of the galaxy; a progressive breaks interlude and explosive drop in the latter half of the track are true release highlights. David Broaders closes out the first half of the release with an awe-inspiring interpretation of "Starman" by Gregory Esayan. A thunderous groove resolves into a beautiful piano and string-themed breakdown; these poignant melodies are some of the most enduring from the compilation this year.

New label recruit Illuminor, a rising duo from Australia, add a bit more punch to eleven.five's classic "Pinnacle". A highly innovative groove, as well as new variations on the main piano motif from the original, stand out in this fantastic new version. Trusty label veteran Sundriver offers a driving take on Denis Laurent feat. Kaisa Martina's "All I Need". A vintage lead chord progression, with numerous euphoric synth layers and arpeggios, paves the way for Kaisa's romantic vocal in the breakdown. British sensation Ben Coda, who has contributed in the past to the Silk Remixed series, returns with a peak-hour rendering of Zack Roth's beloved "Tekkadon". A clubby groove crescendoes into the breakdown, where the newly added, trance-influenced lead shines, alongside the memorable original theme. Russian duo Soarsweep, fresh off an EP on parent label Silk Digital, offers another visionary remix; this time, they have accentuated the emotive themes of "Both", originally a collaboration between Blood Groove & Kikis and LTN. Closing out the EP, Harold-Alexis, one of the stars of our chillout division (Silk Sofa), offers a drum & bass rework of Seagrave's "Storm". With bleeding-edge sound design throughout, this emotive track will be appreciated by fans in search of visionary, outside-of-the-box EDM.

"Bullet That Saved Me" - Remixes OUT April 29th!!

1st up and delivering a new spin to this single are the guys from Tritonal themselves, Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed, as they lay down their undeniably immense festival mix. Retaining the vast amount of emotion contained in the vocal of singer Underdown, these two productions maestros have added a new wave of melody-driven energy that provides an extra dimension and makes it perfect for hoards of partygoers to go wild to. It’s no wonder that when Tritonal dropped this at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, it absolutely exploded and had crowds on BOTH weekends of the event giving it their all on the dance floor!

Also offering up their own unique and exquisite twists on ‘Bullet That Saved Me’ are up-and-comers Sebjak, Ken Loi and Bluestone. Swedish Sebjak brings a harder and darker style than the original, with pounding bass and piercing synths conveying that same energy contained in the first cut. In the package’s third remix, US based producer Ken Loi shows off his electro sensibilities as a saw-toothed wave of crunching sound drops in following the melodic build up, before finally Ilan Bluestone wraps things up by taking the more progressive leanings from the single and adding a top end of chopped synths to create a fast-flowing new take.

With this release and the forthcoming second part of the METAMORPHIC EP series, in addition to touring their native US, there’s a huge amount in the pipeline coming from Tritonal so make sure you don’t miss out on a thing!
