Coming off of a year that saw Armin van Buuren receive a Grammy nomination and several platinum awards for ‘This Is What It Feels Like’, a world tour that reached over 500,000 visitors across 5 continents, and a slew of other prestigious awards — what could be next for the man fueled by an undying passion for trance, Armin van Buuren? Never one to rest on his laurels, Armin has constantly sought to expand and build upon the genre he helped define, opening up new worlds for not only himself, but also for his fellow performers and of course, audiences around the world. A quick glance at recent tour photos reveals the new scale of the A State of Trance experience, especially when compared to the humble beginnings of it all so many years ago. The twelfth installment in the series, A State of Trance 2015 marks the start of life on a bigger stage.

With a brand new collaboration with Mark Sixma entitled ‘Panta Rhei’ and a selection of Armin’s personal favourites, the excitement for 2015 has only just begun. In addition to an exclusive Gareth Emery remix of Cosmic Gate, the album also has a whopping 26 exclusive and unreleased tracks, including never-before-heard songs from Armada Music artists Protoculture, Alexander Popov, Orjan Nilsen, two new Gaia songs, and the fan-anticipated Armin van Buuren presents Rising Star feat. Betsie Larkin – ‘Safe Inside You’.

Armin will once again seamlessly mix his top picks into a continuous journey, taking listeners new and old with him for a wild experience. The first set is titled “On the Beach”, and the second is called “In the Club”, representing the two sides of the coin of a perfect musical experience. It’s this diversity that has led the compilation to be once again nominated for an IDMA in 2015, after having won the award in 2014 and having either won or been nominated every year since 2005.

This year will celebrate ASOT Episode #700, with the ASOT Festival touring the world in what will surely be one of the most ambitious trance tours ever devised. The world’s first festival based upon a radio show, ASOT Festival proves the growing strength of not only Armin and A State of Trance, but of the genre itself.

Once you get to the top, the only way forward is to dare to dream even higher. This is A State of Trance 2015.

Russian artist Vasily Goodkov makes his way back to our Progressive House Worldwide label and opens up 2021 for us. As a long time server on the label, collaborating with us on a number of occasions, he surely returns in style with the beautiful “Illusion Future”: 

This new progressive number is built on really smooth melodic arrangements, nice driving bass lines and really tight and efficient effects to open up with a really driving piece of magic. 

On remix duty, we welcome two different artists making their debuts on the label. First out is another producer hailing from Russia as the in fame rising producer Idy Ramy makes his way on to the label. We are of course thrilled to see him team up with us as he’s been on our radar for a while now. He delivers in full flare from start to finish with a soothing breakdown and creative energetic elements pushing this track even further. We absolutely love the outcome and do think this is a producer that you will hear a lot about during 2021. 

We also have the pleasure to let you know about Greece bound artist, Mark Aigon who makes his way onto the label with a massive remake, where he pulls off a full trance remake. It’s packed with high energy intensity, powerful riffs and all the driving elements that go in for something called a true trance stormer.

Over the past 20 years, Above & Beyond and their label, Anjunabeats, have launched the careers of some electronic music’s most-respected names; Andrew Bayer, Arty, Audien, ilan Bluestone, Seven Lions and Mat Zo to name but a few. In January 2021, the label launched Anjunabeats Rising: a new EP series highlighting the next generation of producers and championing emerging artists from around the world. 

Hot on the heels of the inaugural Anjunabeats Rising release, which was supported by BBC Radio 1’s Danny Howard, Volume 2 features SØNIN, Mike Saint-Jules, and Dylhen.


Hailing from Finland, Anton Sonin (aka SØNIN) explores the sound of breakbeat and trance on ‘Titan’. Anton worked with Super8 & Tab on their iconic Anjunabeats single ‘Black Is The New Yellow’ from 2010, and collaborated with Yotto on ‘Nothing Like You’, which featured on Anjunadeep 10. 

A long time friend of the Anjunafamily with two official remixes under his belt New York’s Mike Saint-Jules makes his solo label debut with ‘Flares’. Mike has over a decade of production experience, with releases on Black Hole, Flashover and Vandit. He’s remixed Armin van Buuren, Gabriel & Dresden and Super8. ‘Flares’ has echoes of the classic, progressive Anjunadeep sound of the 2000s.

Rounding off the EP is Dylhen, who makes label debut with ‘Wanderlust’. A Group Therapy Radio regular, he’s a stalwart of the U.K’s underground progressive scene, with releases on Future Sound Of Egypt and Grum’s Deep State Recordings. He also released a cracking remix of Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘No One To Blame’ on Anjunabeats in 2020.

Franky Wah kicks off 2021 with new EP ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’, his maiden release on the legendary Anjunadeep, out 12th February. 
A four-track EP, ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’ opens with the lead title track, an emotion-drenched vocal cut pairing poignant breakdowns with the soaring vocals of AETHO, out 4th February.

Franky enjoyed a career-affirming 2020 that included putting out a collaborative EP with dance music icon Sasha and dropping his debut mixtape The Revival Vol. 1, which included singles ‘You’re Not Alone’ and ‘Come Together’. The latter was nominated for Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record Of The Year’ and certified as her ‘Tune Of The Week’ and ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on BBC Radio 1, as well as garnering support from Pete Tong and MistaJam. With a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix now under his belt, he spent an impressive 10 weeks on the Radio 1 Playlist, 5 weeks of which on the A-List. The producer also made waves featuring in the globally renowned GQ Magazine in 2020, with an extensive feature focussing on the rising talent’s expansive repertoire. 

Going back to his roots, ‘Should Have Seen It Coming’ sees Franky Wah tap into his love of deep, melodic music and takes the genre into bold new territories.

After appearing for the first time on Odd Echoes 4, Moonwalk the Milan-based DJs and producers present us their debut EP on the label, a three original melodic and energetic cuts, with a fantastic and powerful remix by the Italian duo Undercatt.

The Neapolitan duo, Dario and Mauro, start the EP with the lead track ¨Solaris¨ a rolling and grooving cut, with a haunting and catchy melody that stays in your mind right away.

On the remix duties we have another Italian duo, Undercatt. They approach the rework with their characteristic elements and sound design, turning the version into a deeper and melodic cut.

To continue with the EP, we have ¨Enigma¨, which aims more to dance floor peak time, with elements of Indie Disco influenced percussions. On the same vibe to close the pack we have ¨Delta¨, where you can also recognize the duo’s signature sound.

Rising from the storied history of Movement is a new concept imprint 'Ãstrαλ'. Meaning 'of the stars' - Astral Records can be thought of an ecstatic, mystical out-of-body experience, wherein the spiritual traveller leaves the physical body and travels in an astral body onto 'higher' realms. A fitting description for the musical blueprint of the label which looks to showcase the best in contemporary melodic house and techno.

Holding down the AandR duties is long-time Movement Recordings artist Paul Anthonee who has been operating at the heart of the genre since it's early beginnings. In addition to an extensive history with the Greek imprint, the Cyprus based producer has also showcased his music via Beatfreak Recordings, Lost On You, Parquet, Steyoyoke and Suara. It seems only fitting then that Astral's inaugural release comes courtesy of Paul himself who presents his most anticipated project to date 'A Word Beyond'.

Spread across four tracks it's the mystical, peak time vibes of 'Cukan' which sets the tone for the release. Bulbous beats, charged rhythms and striking effects begin the seven minute journey. Senses heighten as choir-like pads and atmospheric swells unite across a devilish first act. Heady modulation delights throughout the main break, flowing through a stimulating band of quirky hooks and unpredictability, before rising to a gaseous crescendo and driving final movement.

Continuing with the cosmic ethos of the EP is the more emotive yet equally powerful 'Matterna'. Anchored by a tight, rippling groove the energy is palpable from the outset. Ethereal phrasing and fiery percussion deliver dynamic moments early, as timely effects add depth and a rare ravey tension. Carrying into the second act, the otherworldly lead descends over a cavernous centrepiece, elevating mood before a wave of effects launches you into euphoria's top floor.

Marking the release's halfway point is the commanding 'Virgo'. Built on a backbone of tough beats and a crunchy groove, its ghostly nature is alluring from the start. Tranquil yet energetic, fragmented melodies and percussive flurries add dynamic splashes as momentum builds across the first act. The narrative shifts during the break with a further lean into ethereal territory, bringing arcane moments, before a timely drop transfers energy into an exhilarating finale. Adding further complement to its predecessor's is the final selection 'Kamara' with it's enlightening, psychedelic presence.

Another heady creation from Paul which not only aims squarely at the dance floor but rounds out the first Astral offering in fine style, with early support by BLANCAh, EdOne, Paul Angelo and Don Argento, Nohak, ao. Don't miss it.
