For our 17th podcast we’re happy to have Holland’s Odette. Odette offers cutting-edge house and techno with a nod to the history of both genres, as a DJ and producer pushing the limits of the sound in her own productions, sets, and live performance. Dutch artist, Odette, first entered the wider public conscious back in 2016, when her first single, The Divine Line, was picked up by Lyon-based label Denise Records. Since then, the prolific producer has seen a rake of releases on some of the dance underground’s tastemaker labels, including Deep Tech Records, Baile Music, Saint&Don’t, Rewire, and Tip Tap Records. ⁠

August 2017 Odette saw her Randez-Vous single hitting the No.1 spot in Beatport’s Minimal chart. Prior to her productions, Odette forged a name for herself in Amsterdam, winning the 2013 Kweekvijver DJ competition, which is judged by Hey! Records label boss, Michel De Hey. Inspired with confidence, she has honed her DJ skills continuously since she first caught the DJ bug and she is a sought-after artist on an international level, playing electronic music festivals across Europe. Festivals such as Ruigoord, Georgies Wundergarten as well as club nights in Ibiza and Liverpool, UK. Odette has amassed a cult following of fans in Amsterdam, playing events at some of the city’s best nightspots, including Club NL and Ruigoord, alongside her residencies at The Butcher and Mr. Porter. Her performances gave her the chance to play alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, including Juan Sanchez (FORMAT), Ille Bitch (Studio80), and 2000 and One (100% Pure).

As mentioned, Odette is a prolific producer, locking herself away in the studio on a daily basis to ensure that her creative juices stay well and truly flowing. This consistency means that she has become an accomplished producer in a relatively short space of time, making use of Native Instrument’s Maschine and Ableton’s Live Studio to compose her tracks, so expect to see plenty more of her as her release schedule maintains a high level of output. Odette’s first vinyl release Love Story dropped in March 2019 and she didn’t stop there. A VA on vinyl only label ‘Stay Random Natasha’ and of course her own vinyl label “VDK”. VDK00, 002 and 003 sold out in days and VDK004 is on its way. In January 2020 her EP ‘Get in the Vortex’ on Kindisch/Get Physical got released. In 2021 she will take it one step further by also releasing a vinyl record on EWax. Almost forgot but her release on Dutch label ‘Depth Over Distance’ will be out in March 2021. This EP; Falsa Magra, has a thick remix by Rowlanz! The best has yet to come, follow her channels for a very dope release on a label we all love this Febuary, we can’t say too much yet!⁠
