Plastician’s Terrorhythmn imprint have been breathing plenty of life into the mutated, hybrid club sounds emerging from both UK and US beat-makers over the past two years, crucially spotlighting producers like Ganz, AWE, Patrick Brian and JD Reid for the first time.

The latest name to emerge from the camp, Klasey Jones, has been bubbling under for the past year, with his tracks earning heavy rotation on Plastician’s Rinse FM show in particular — itself often a valuable resource for those seeking a link between grime, drill and instrumental, cloud-wave rap.

Jones’ debut EP — the widescreen, cinematic ‘Foreign Buyers Club’ — is a profound case in point, linking the above sub-genres with flashes of 80s synth music, anime OSTs and some genuinely one-of-a-kind sound design.

At five tracks long, Jones is also able to explore the variants to his sound fully across the EP; see the morbid dystopia of opener ‘Area 55’ for example, or conversely, the hazy, string-led romance on ‘Gang Gang’.

With over 150 instrumentals currently sat on his hardrive, Jones’ potential is limitless, but ‘Foreign Buyers Club’ serves as the perfect introduction to where he’s headed.

Klasey Jones - Gang Gang

Pearls is Swimful’s second release on Shanghai’s SVBKVLT label. The EP collects four of the best tracks made by Swimful in the past year and sees the producer going deeper into his sound of nostalgic sino melodies and melancholic atmospheres that he established on 2016’s PM2.5.

Remixes come from Coyote Records’ Letta, who strips back the title track to a bare-bones devils mix that leaves only the heart of the track intact, and Shanghai’s Downstate, who twists “Lonely God” into a sprawling, symphonic journey that closes out the EP.

Today we have something incredibly special to share with you all. We proudly present our 11th installment of the Rusted Rhythm series, featuring griff. 

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, griff is quite the prolific musician. Most known for his original acoustic-driven composition, he is also a DJ and a talented guitar player who has performed throughout Australia and the US. His electronic compositions are often infused with his stringwork, a style he has become well known for. His music tends to lean on the downtempo to midtempo side of things, although he is versatile with pace as a producer and DJ - and this mix brilliantly showcases that. 

We won’t reveal too much, as the mix speaks for itself, but it is an impeccable journey through an extensive range of styles and feels, each with a World music influence like much of griff's own productions.

In addition, griff is one half of Dersu Uzala, a side project he created with his brother. This mix features unreleased music from the pair. If you aren’t familiar with their music, please indulge. 

griff has been a long time favorite and an immense inspiration to us at The Rust Music.  We couldn’t be more honored to share this with you.

For Amani Friend and his Liquid Bloom project, the Re:Generations mixes are a gift that keeps on giving. First remixed by AtYyA, who took on the entire album by himself, now an all-star cast of subsonic wizards from around the globe are putting their own spin on these intoxicating tunes. 

Stars of the psychedelic world like Hedflux and Land Switcher pump thrilling bass into “Roots of the Earth”and “Fire Gathering,” respectively. Kaminanda takes “Sacred Blessing” on a more than 11-minute epic journey. Numatik ignites new life into Fire Gathering .Suduaya, Momentology, Salis, and Nanosphere run the gamut from rich, organic strings and ethereal voices to dark, brooding, and bellowing sub bass covering the spectrum from delicate, ambience to pounding grooves. TRIBONEonce again remixes Deya Dova for a Desert Trax release, and Erothyme closes out the collection with a sprawling anthem of lush sounds.
