However, their success story took a devastating turn when it was revealed that they hadn't actually sung on their records.
They were dancers and made the music come to life, but the backlash was intense. 
The public felt betrayed, and the music industry swiftly turned its back on them. They were stripped of their Grammy Award, a symbolic and unprecedented act. Their albums were pulled from shelves, radio station refused to play any of thier songs and their reputation was shattered.

In hindsight, it's worth considering the context. Milli Vanilli were, in many ways, products of a music industry machine. They were young and perhaps naive, caught in a system that prioritized image and marketability over artistic authenticity. While their deception was undeniable, the severity of the punishment raises questions about the industry's role and the expectations placed upon young artists. They became the ultimate scapegoats, their careers destroyed in a dramatic fall from grace.
