With almost three decades of experience under his belt pushing the boundaries of electronic music culture, long-standing Swiss-Italian artist EDX has the credentials, to match the very best in the business. Following a brief hiatus in his personal production output over the past six months to focus on other areas of his music businesses, the chart-topping hit-maker – and Switzerland’s most streamed artist ever – now returns to the fray, as he unveils his incredible new single, Ecletric.

Due for worldwide release on Friday, April 23 via his iconic PinkStar Records imprint, Ecletric is another stunning slice of warm, blissful melodic house music from EDX, who marks his inaugural release of 2021 and his first original single since the critically acclaimed release of Indian Summer back in September. 

Making his intentions known from the off, EDX’s tight rhythms, growling basslines and syncopated synth stabs commence proceedings, as the PinkStar head honcho lays down an exquisite introduction to pave the way for a breakdown of impressive proportions. Gradually introducing cascading euphoric leads and sweeping tones over the course of the rousing middle eight, the record eventually drops into progressive house euphoria and luscious melodic rapture as EDX opens his 2021 tally with another worthy addition to an incredible career discography.

The ‘Chronicles 24’ artwork displays a photograph of a pair of jellyfish, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Jellyfish come in a variety of types, from the massive Lion’s Mane jellyfish with tentacles over 100 feet long to the tiny, nearly invisible Irukandji, each with unique adaptations suited to their environment. By studying these diverse species, scientists can learn about efficient swimming mechanics, bio-luminescence, and even advanced healing processes, as jellyfish possess remarkable regenerative abilities. Additionally, some jellyfish, like the Turritopsis dohrnii, exhibit biological immortality, offering insights into aging and cellular regeneration that could have implications for human health research. Finnish DJ and producer Otto Yliperttula (aka Yotto) caught our imaginations alight with his stellar debut album ‘Hyperfall’ last September, charting as a No. 1 Dance/Electronic album on Billboard and earning support from Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Eric Prydz, and many other heavyweights in the dance world. The next chapter sees an acclaimed host of producers add their own sound to the ‘Hyperfall’ story.

‘Hear Me Out’ receives separate remixes from Mobilee Records head Anja Schneider and Berlin producer Kevin de Vries to open proceedings. Schneider incorporates the sublime vocals of Laudic to full effect over a driving bass groove, whilst De Vries’s adapts the original's bright melodies to his characteristic techno style.

German artists Monkey Safari and Ruede Hagelstein build on Yotto’s original brooding arrangement for ‘Turn It Around’ in contrasting fashions; Monkey Safari adding a trademark sunshine sheen of bubbly arpeggios, while Ruede Hagelstein’s ‘Rise Again’ remix places mechanised vocoders atop a menacing bassline.

‘Kantsu’ receives a minimal reinterpretation from Parisian electro artist Chloé, while SØNIN captures the understated euphoria of ‘The One You Left Behind’ through an inventive club re-work.
