For this edition of the L.I.E.S. artist podcast series we welcome the one and only Willie Burns. Also known as William Thomas Burnett, bossman of W.T. Records, Burnett is a veteran of the game as he's been deep behind enemy lines for a long long time. If you're looking, you can usually find Burnett deep in the basement of The Thing, the largest used record store in all of NYC or in his studio down the block working late into the night as he sips a bottle of moderately priced red wine. 

Never one to follow the trends, here we have Burnett mixing almost an hours worth of what he describes as "early street techno trance" a genre which undoubtedly has been now brought to the forefront from his days digging in the basement of the Thing. Done in one take, it's wild breakbeat driven, trance-laden trip as the author suggested, so get ready to take a pill and throw your hands in the air.

He has recently also been recently releasing under his own netlabel <a href="http://editoradoporto.blogspot.com/">EdP</a>.

Womblabel is proud to present "Potential Worlds", the latest work of one of today's most interesting composers in Ambient Electronica, macedonian artist Dimitar Dodovski. 

From his hometown in Bitola, Dimitar Dodovski has been steadily building a solid discography, both as a solo artist, and as part of collaborations such as Moss Garden and Post Global Trio. "Potential Worlds" goes a step further, displaying his exemplary combination of deeply textured soundscapes and echo-driven rhythms in a set of playful, bright and deceptively simple Ambient tracks. 

There is, however, incredible detail in this music, which can be sensed in the way each track develops and progresses, so naturally, almost as if coming to life. And as we let our senses and imagination follow into this world of reflections, we will find places of mystery and wonder, filled with promise and childish excitement. 

Closing the album, OCP's remix of "Birds on the Window" translates Dimitar's bright textures into a nocturnal, introspective piece of Ambient Dub. Like a prelude to a dream, after a day of play, it beautifully rounds up this release. 

A true masterpiece.

a short memory

As promised, here is the long awaited EP on Serein from Portugese artist, OCP. Those of you with a good memory will remember the contribution he made to the 'Tracks in the Snow' compilation at the beginning of the year, we've been eager to release more of his work and are now pleased to present you with 'Atmos'. This five track EP represents perfectly what OCP is all about, combining elements of ambient and glitch through to the modest sounds of dub techno and stripping it right back to the core, we're left with an understated and refrained collection of minimal yet utterly involving music.

Perhaps what is most striking about OCP's compositions is their unashamedly electronic nature, you are never in doubt as to the source of the sounds, the analogue circuitry practically drips through the speaker cones, which to my mind is very satisfying indeed.
