Time for another Ali Farka Touré  track, as the first two are proving to be consistently popular. If you like this track please feel free to leave a comment, share or repost - it would be great to hear from you!
This track, Ai Du, was recorded properly 6 years later by Ali when he joined forces with Ry Cooder on the Grammy Award-winning Talking Timbuktu album. We recorded this as part of a jam we arranged with Ali at Moray House College of Education, Edinburgh in 1988, when he just happened to have a night off on the Scottish part of a UK Tour. It was recorded on the Leapfrog mobile analogue 24-track, courtesy of producer/engineer Claude Harper, with a line-up of illustrious Edinburgh jazz and blues musicians including: Mike Travis on drums/percussion, Kenny Ellis on electric bass, Dave McNiven on keyboards, Jim Sutherland on percussion, and myself on guitar. Ali was accompanied by his own percussionist Roger Cissé. 
We heard much later that this session was what inspired Ali to make the recording with Ry Cooder. I'd like to think that's true! If you like this track, please leave a comment - we'd love to hear from you!

FÉKUTAI means "morning star" in the native language of Tanna, one of the Islands of Vanuatu, a lost archipelago suspended in the Pacific Ocean...

The Random Collective shares their soft electronic version of traditional sounds from Vanuatu. This EP is inspired by the memories of our member @maracuyacita who used to live there, and is based on field recordings from the 60's by Raymond Clausen as well as on the Vanuatu Women's Water Music recording from Wantok Music.

@hugrecords: The original track was created by the Malinese artist Luka Productions. @danielzuur aka @krautmusica discovered it while being on one of his journeys through the unexplored areas of Soundcloud and he fell in love. He showed us his first raw remix and it was also for us love on first listen. So we got in contact with the artist Luka Guindo and he agreed to let us use the song. 50% of the profit from this track will go to support Luka Productions in Mali and the other 50% will be donated straight to the Water Project of Love Foundation in Kenia.
