LP - Transmutation

Enter Planet Dust welcomes Frenchman in Berlin, Manuel Jesus aka @world_wild_web to the ranks with the first single from his upcoming LP, Transmutation. Having cut his teeth fronting proto-punk psyche groups in his teenage years, Jesus made several extended trips to India and relocated to Berlin where he set up a studio and joined the artist collective and DIY venue, Loophole. 

World Wild Web's organ and drum machine-led music nods to the global Cosmic continuum, and reminds me of Suicide, Rizan Sa'id, The Monks and more. 'Cursed Fruits' shows off Manuel's dark, nihilistic approach toward catchy organ pop.

"Once upon a time, in a world wild web far beyond our own, there was a colony of creatures known as the Tazlings. These little creatures were skilled in the art of transmutation, able to change their form and shape at will. They lived in a beautiful forest filled with all kinds of magical plants and creatures.



One day, a human named Donald Dust stumbled upon the Tazlings' colony. He was a greedy man who had been searching for a way to make himself rich and powerful. When he saw the Tazlings' abilities, he decided to capture them and force them to use their powers for his own gain.



However, the Tazlings were not easily taken. They used their transmutation skills to hide and evade Donald Dust's grasp. In his frustration, he turned to the cursed fruits that grew in the forest, hoping to use their dark magic to capture the Tazlings.



Little did he know, the cursed fruits had a mind of their own, and their magic was more powerful than he could handle. As he tried to capture the Tazlings, the cursed fruits turned on him, transforming him into a grotesque creature.



The Tazlings, free from Donald Dust's clutches, were grateful for the cursed fruits' intervention. From that day forward, they made sure to keep their colony hidden from outsiders, using their transmutation skills to protect themselves and their magical world wild web."



Manuel Jesus aka World Wild Web, releases debut LP, "Transmutation," on Enter Planet Dust on April 30th, exploring themes of anxiety, overconsumption and Web 3.0, and includes scrappy guitar anthems and cosmic joints nodding to the global cosmic continuum. Wright spent most of their teen years immersed in the sounds of house music and this mix oozes exactly that. Their unique perspective on dance music is just the refresher to lift us up. On their favorite track: The track I would like to highlight is the Serge G. 'Work It Out (DJ Holographic Remix)'. Alinka & I released it a few months ago on Twirl and it's a total family affair and a banger! I met Serge quite a few years ago when he was still residing in Stockholm, via an old friend from NYC. He's contributed remixes on Twirl before. He's also featured me in a short film he created "A Child Of House: Shaun J. Wright", that includes some of my closest friends in the world; the eternal Aerea Negrot, Alinka, Jacob Meehan, Madison More and Sir Jacobs. DJ Holographic is one of my dearest friends and having her join the Twirl musical family feels so appropriate. It's always a blessing to collaborate with people you love and admire.

As 2024 wraps up, we take a moment to reflect on the incredible year we've had at SOULMEEX. We couldn’t let it pass without celebrating in style!

Of course, with Tom Banks, better known as Donald Dust, who emerged on the electronic music scene in 2017 with his debut EP, Dazzle Ship, released on No Bad Days. His music draws from a vibrant mix of golden-era italo synths, WBMX radio mixes, Ron Hardy-style drum tracks, and the early sounds of eurodisco-influenced house. This distinct mix of retro and modern elements quickly earned him recognition, with subsequent releases on Bordello A Parigi and the Edinburgh-based label Paradise Palms further showcasing his evolving style.
 
In 2018, Donald Dust launched his own label, Enter Planet Dust, debuting with the Mars R-Trax 7". The release, inspired by modular synth experiments, vintage sound effects, and disco drum grooves, highlighted his knack for crafting genre-bending DJ tools. That same year, he began a residency at Edinburgh’s Paradise Palms, hosted the Other Thumpers radio show on EH-FM, and performed across the UK, Europe, and the U.S. His 2019 EP, Fluorescent Music solidified his reputation, combining italo-tinged burners, sci-fi-inspired soundscapes, and experimental synth work. 

Since then, he has released 12”s with Bordello a Parigi, Wilson Records and Blaq Numbers, plus tracks and remixes on esteemed labels such as Toy Tonics and SlothBoogie, continuing to explore new directions in electronic music while staying true to his roots.
 
A passionate collector of records since childhood, Donald balances his studio work with DJing, and remains committed to create music that bridges the nostalgic energy of past decades with fresh, contemporary sounds.
