Onto the information about how I did it:

First off, the word hash is a reference to the method I used to create the synth sounds. Hash = minced meat. I basically "minced" a lot of different formanty sounds and stuck them together(it's more complicated than this). It's also a play on the 'acid' genre which has similar sounds, but I'm using a very different technique to elicit similar sounds associated with acid, so i've decided to call it 'hash'. I'm clearing this up because I keep getting messages about people talking about their recent fun with 'hash' but i've had enough of that :)

I got to use a modular setup for the first time. Spent many hours on the thing and came back with tons of samples some of which I've microedited and such later in my DAW. I'd say about 70-80% of the sounds are sampled from the synth.

Reason I did this was to separate making sounds and sequencing them as it's easy to get bogged down continuing to make sounds.

 Toward the end I used his disklavier :)) I wrote the midi for a vst initially, but then used it on a real piano, sampled it, then edited it afterward. For some reason on his old one you get a stringy kinda sound that appealed to me when you arppegiate.

This track is composed almost entirely from standalone (one-off) samples from a eurorack & moog. Got to play with one about 2 months ago, recorded a loooot (about 8 hours) of sounds. 

also recorded a lot from a moog. I only used midi from a certain scale, and got a ton of samples in many different notes in the scale. A few hours of this. With different patches dialed in.

After I did this (during two separate weekends so it took a while) I went ahead and combined them in this little composition. The goal was to make something interesting from one-shots as opposed to neatly putting down midi and working on it normally. Instead I opted to make the sounds, and then try to make a coherent composition out of them.

This is the result.

Oh yeah, also a few synthesized drum samples from a minipops. The pops in a minipops sound amazing!

My father Died around this time 3 years ago from a heart attack caused by alcohol poisoning. I made this as a tribute to him. This is supposed to be what me remembering my child hood memories are like. I don't really remember the words to my memories, I just remember sounds and emotions for old memories. I remember my dad hearing me play piano when I was very young, and how he liked it. The piano playing I did in this is how I feel remembering my Father, every note is really a word to me. I don't do things to be clever or cool, I do it to express myself in a unique way. Hope people enjoy this.
