The Early days:
My addiction to music started a long time ago, around 1993. At that time I got my classical training, and learned to listen to music in another way, with musicians ears! In 1994 I got hooked to my saxophone and after 6 years I got my secundary degree. As my interests changed from classic to electronic music, I gave the classical studies (musical history) and my sax anno 2000 (I do play it sometimes but not as much as I would like these days). With my musical background and my love for broken beats, drum and bass in particular, I started producing mid 2005, experimenting with programs like Reason, Fruityloops, Adobe Audition, NI Reaktor, Cubase, etc. As my knowledge in these programs keeps on expanding, there will be alot more to come. 
When I went studying in 2003 at Leuven, I met Etnik &amp; Redface, who introduced me into DJ'ing. At that time I was more into techno &amp; schranz, and as a consequence I began buying techno records from Rush, Chris Liebing,... I was influenced the most by Sven Väth, digging his synthwork very much! Weeks passed, I bought my turntables (gemini SA600) and a mixer, and started practicing.. Later on, when the DC004 crew was given birth, I joined them, something I'll never regret..

As time passed, I lost my interest in techno, and thanks to the influence of Jinne (etnik), I started going to drum 'n' bass parties in Leuven &amp; Ghent. This music brought me in such a good mood: from happyness to party hardy! Around September 2005 also my DJ habbits took a U-turn: buying drum &amp; bass, putting techno at the side. Those days I was diggin' the jump up sound, with releases om Breakbeat Kaos and Ram Records. When my knowledge in the subgenres of d&amp;b grew expanded, I started buying dark rolling dnb and darkstep, with tunes of Raiden, Noisia, Counterstrike, SPOR, Technical Itch, just to name a few. 
These days I'm evolving to the liquid / easy / minimal sound of drum &amp; bass, playing tunes from Commercial Suicide, Fokuz,Soul:R,Critical, Spearhead, Quarentine, Renegade Recordings,... However, I'm still keeping the dark rolling edge alive, cutting back on the heavy amen, darkstep stuff. My sets will mainly be influenced by the labels mentioned above, with a harder tip at the end. 
With DC as a crew, and with Etnik in particulair, we started started our own partyconcept EXCESS (<a href="http://www.myspace.com/excessdnb" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myspace.com/excessdnb</a>), trying to bring the best what leuven and surroundings has to offer, spiced up with an (international) headliner. Allready 3 editions (with one small one) have passed, and we had the honour to have DJ's on the decks like: Beta2 (UK), Henree(GER), D-Ro(NL), Wontime, Noijz, Speedwagon, I-Witness, Alert &amp; Hidious, Shoves, Hookerz, Tropmanga,... 
August 2009: Time for an update:
My focus has changed from being a DJ to being a fulltime producer. Nevertheless, I'm planning to pick up DJ'ing again in some days/weeks/months (who knows, I still do it, only not that often as I did it).

Drum & Bass DJ - follow on insta for lil mini mix’s on your feed - Supported the likes of SPY, AC13 & loves a rave, Biscuit Boy started out as a joke gone too far, someone that lives & breathes DnB since growing up, sitting curating mixes for hours on end to play out to fellow DnB heads.

My name is Jan Canters and I’m from Herentals in Belgium. Since the late 90’s, I’ve been on a great musical journey. During that period the sound of Drum’n’bass got my attention. It started with music from Roni Size, Hype, Zinc, Peshay, Bad company you name it! During this period I came across a lot of different subgenres , which all had and still have a great influence on my musical inspiration and production. With getting older the urge for getting my own hands on the production side was growing. So, in 2007, (also my first year in university) I started making drum’n’bass with reason 4. After 3 years messing around with reason 4, I slowly made a change to Ableton. Nowadays I’m using both rewired, but Ableton just rocks .
When it comes down to music I really try to do my own thing and try to create different styles or let’s say moods. When I’m listening to music, I try to stay away as much as I can from drum’n’bass and listen to non-electronic music and hiphop. It’s really there I get most of my inspiration for my tracks. I love to experiment and be creative with samples and vocal snippets. I don’t want to make mindless music, so I always try to put a certain mood or vibe in my tunes, depending on how I feel. I tend to bring the soul and various vibes in my tracks, I like to set a mood to express myself through music. I’m not only making tunes to express myself but also to get people moving on the dancefloor! I think some of my tracks can also be categorized as easy listening music, tracks that you would enjoy after a hard day at work or during your daily run. In the drum’n’bass scene nowadays there are a few big producers who inspire me such as Lenzman, Calibre, Random Movement, Intelligent Manners, Marky, SPY, Furney, Spectrasoul, Dbridge, Mutt, Dynamic, Dj Chap, Command Strange, Smote, Flame, Duoscience, … They make the kind of drum’n’bass music that I love, that I would play in my mixes, that gives me inspiration for my own music.
