The 8-Bit Guy made, as you probably already know, a new game - Attack of the Petscii Robots. It's available for the Commodore PET, VIC-20, C64, Apple IIgs and Atari/Commander X16.

Noelle did all the official music for this game, as I had little time to devote to this project except for the design and label stuff as usual. However,  in January this year, I sat down and made some songs that I thought could fit the game. Using only hardware and no soft synths or samples, I did a series of tunes inspired by the titles of the maps in the game.

Initially I planned these to be loopable and short as most in game music tends to be, but I quickly found myself making more or less full songs with a more normal structure. So this alternate soundtrack is more of a synth inspired album that some of you may find ok to play in the background while playing the game.

Found this guy in one of my shorts feeds - @terje_tylden and he's got this thing where he plays some riff and challenges people to "steal" it and tag him. So this being a very happy and poppy riff - just up my alley, I couldn't resist.

Took me a few weeks to figure out how to best approach it. First I thought I should keep it at one minute in length, but it grew to at least two. So it's a thing between a #Shorts and a full 3 + min song.

Just the basic Roland, Yamaha, Korg, Ensoniq and Alesis gear. Drums from R-8M, HR-16, Quadrasynth and Sequential Tom. Various melodic synths, mainly Yamaha TX816, Motif series and a few Roland MKS, JD and others. Enjoy! :)

A short experimentation after taking a few courses on writing for an orchestra. I just might be starting to understand a little how to write for different sections :)

EDIT: Re-uploaded a new version as the previous one had a track muted, and I fixed some problems with harmony. Silly me.

Electronic musician from Norway. I started playing piano/keyboards in the mid 80s. After a few years at the municipal music school, I quickly grew tired of the simple piano-only education and got to move on to classes with keyboards and synths. From the early beginning with Technics K-200 rhythm keyboard from 1983 via some Casios/Hohner keyboards, I evolved with the later Technics KN-1000 and KN-2000 before moving on to Roland XP-50. As the computer revolution made DAWs affordable, 1999 made sequencing using Cubase easy and the studio grew ever larger with more outboard gear. Today the studio has become a sizeable and functional MIDI/arranging studio with over 40 synths/modules and more centered around a MacPro with MOTU’s Digital Performer, and numerous more or less famous productions.

I have always had a musical approach towards sound engineering and composing, rooted mainly in vivid harmonic structures and saturated compositions. Inspiration has always been the likes of Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Eric Serra to name a few giants in the electronic scene, but also a heart towards well produced pop music from the 70s and 80s as well as epic film scores from John Williams, Alan Silvestri and Hans Zimmer. The baby era of computer music from the late 80s and early 90s was also a heavy influence.
