Timewarp presents a new release from InnerZone called The Inner Zone EP, we hope you enjoy the ride! Rei Albahari has been producing music since 2005 under the name "MadDoc". He has started his way around electronic music while co-producing & editing the Israeli radio show "BeatNik" (Brodcast on "Galey Tzahal" 2004-2006). After the show stopped Rei began to produce small parties & DJ sets around Israel, in 2008 forming the production "Ha'HaZit Ha'Amamit La'Trance", taking on promoting the GOA TRANCE & the Retro trend. "MadDoc" shows & DJ seta have been well known because of his unique sound and track selecting. Rei started producing music as InnerZone in 2011 and got his 1st release Analog Sunrise. Since then Rei released two E.P's and several tracks on compilations, remixed & collaborated with artist such as Astral Projection, Power Source, Radical Distortion, The Muses Rapt , Nervasystem and more. InnerZone would like to thank to his parents & family, Shanny Avitan, Steve Tzokas, Renato Brnic, Shahaf Shvarzman, Matan Ohana, Issac Sandman, Har-el Prusky, Avi & Lior, Juan Verdera, Drezz Nervasystem , Danny Marshal and all of you party people out there!

8. Spanish Gypsy

Until quite recently I lived the Sierra Guadarrama mountains in Spain for several years where I was exposed to a lot of excellent Flamenco music, which is the music of the Gypsies or Romani. 

Being a guitarist myself I couldn't help but get sucked into figuring out how to play this style on guitar. While I was learning, I was struck by the similarity between Flamenco and North African and Indian music and when I analysed it, I found that they share certain musical scales. (interestingly the Romani were originally a nomadic tribe from northen India that travelled to Europe in the12th century) 

Another musical conjunction was the similarity (to me) between the harmony and rhythm of the opening bars of that quintessentially Spanish dance the Pasa Doble and a lot of Trance built on a gallop rhythm. 

So the original inspirational spark began with the possibility of combining all these musical threads into one piece of music. So, I started by creating the melody on a Flamenco scale, over the rhythm of the Pasa Doble with it's semi-tone harmonic movement and mixed that with certain elements of the older Indian influenced Goa-trance sound, but built it all on a foundation of the big kick and bass from the more modern Psytrance sound. 

Later I dusted off the (steel strung) acoustic and recorded some melodic guitar parts using some newly learned Flamenco licks to emphasis the Gitano flavour. 

The track you hear is the result of this weird musical synthesis of Goa, Psy trance, Flamenco and the Pasa Doble.

Ephedra is Alexandre Cohen, a Belgian producer/ dj born in Brussels.

Alex musical trip started around 1998 when he discovered electronic music.
He began slowly to buy dj equipment and started to play progressive trance for his own pleasure.
After some years training with the decks he got intrested in many others electronic styles like techno, house, electro and began to play in small student parties.

After some time he discovered Goa trance / psytrance while he was at a festival in Belgium. He was so impressed that he directly felt in love...

Some times later he began to play in small oldskool goa parties and started to produce his own music.
In the meantime he started a party organisation called “Goa Madness” with three other friends and made his first live act in 2007.
Soon after he had the opportunity to be a resident for the german party org “Tranceforce prod” and started to play live acts and dj sets in Germany a few times a year.

His first release « acid rain » appeared on the compilation « Goa overdose 2 » (UAF recs) followed by many other releases on labels such as Suntrip records, Sita records, Ovnimoon recs & more.
His first album "Journey through my head" was released in 2014 on Goa Madness Records.

He already played in several countries such as: Israel, Japan, Serbia, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Switzerland, France, The Netherlands and off cource Belgium...  

His style is melodic, euphoric and sometimes acidic Goatrance with a lot of different influences.

Alex is also one of the label mangers of « Goa Madness records »
