“Anemochory”, from the botanical term for wind-borne seed dispersal, forms the fourth Item of “Tome of Stars” and serves as a metaphor for the poet’s most desolate phase. It consists of fifteen sonnets of emotional scattering, spiritual disorientation, and theological anguish.

“Unsent” dramatizes an internal crisis in the wake of abandonment and emotional betrayal, casting the poet’s beloved not only as a tragic loss but, in long retrospect, as an actively harmful force in his life. The speaker lurches from bitter clarity to wounded supplication, oscillating between the desire to condemn and reject and the desperate hope for reunion. This emotional whiplash is central to the poem’s structure and message: it captures a psyche no longer certain of its devotion but still enslaved by longing. Drawing on violent religious and mythic imagery with satanic figures, angelic ruin, infernal wastelands, the sonnet explores how his grief over a lost love curdled into disillusionment and bitterness over decades, only to collapse into the rawest vulnerability at a moment’s notice. The final twist is that such emotionally explosive letters (there were many over the years) were never communicated. The title, “Unsent”, reveals the poet’s restraint and perhaps his shame and fear of further rejection. It is one of the clearest signs in Anemochory of a mind disoriented, mutating, scattered, and lost.

At last the fumes have cleared, and I perceive
The serpents coiled beneath the fairy’s wings;
Such madness did my love-blind heart believe,
Drunk hope made sweet your venom’s bitter sting.

Dread deserts burn between us, dead and wide,  
Abyss so vast no mortal quest dare ford,  
Without redemption’s light to serve as guide,  
Or stitch the angel butchered by your sword.  

Unless you forge a light that hell can’t quench,  
Renew the ransacked wastelands of my heart,  
Then strangle every sound, satanic wench,  
Allow my mangled spirit to depart.  

But wait—don’t go! Dear gods, I’m rent! I plead!  
Remain and mend the broken shards of me!
