Morning - rising sun. Since then this composition has changed a bit, partly remade, let's say it has grown into something more than just the morning sun, now it is a sunrise and the beginning of a new day, the way to a new beginning, which I tried to convey as a gradual increase of dynamics in the arrangement and the mix 🙂 - 😀.

We abandoned them and left them to die, we built up their hope and then crushed it, But hope for tomorrow was something they always had.

The protests began on 15 March 2011, when protesters marched in the capital of Damascus, demanding democratic reforms and the release of political prisoners. Security forces retaliated by opening fire on the protesters, and according to witnesses who spoke to the BBC, the government forces detained six. The protest was triggered by the arrest of a boy and his friends by the government for writing in graffiti, "The people want the fall of the government", in the city of Daraa. - Wikipedia

The unrest that followed those protests quickly became the Syrian Civil War. The rebels found favour and support from the West but also from forces loyal to ISIS. They held on to hope of a victory over the brutal dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad for 5 long years, they hoped beyond all hopes that their supporters in the west would continue to back them up. Even under fire from Government forces supported by Russia they still held on to hope that we would come to their rescue.

But in their hour of need we abandoned them and left them to die, we built up their hope and then crushed it, They were used as scapegoats for our own government's failings and they became a focus for the hatred that characterised the campaign for the UK to leave the EU and for Trump's presidential campaign.

The way in which the UK, America and our allies have treated the people of Syria will forever be our shame.

But this piece of music is not about that shame, nor is it about the war, the death, the destruction, or the betrayal, it is about the unending hope that the rebels of Syria held onto through struggle on struggle. Whether you agreed with them, or our support of them. Whether you questioned their choice of allies or even their motives for their uprising. Whether you agree with their religious beliefs or not. None of this is important. These are all people,

The rebels of Syria have shown us how hope can give people a strength that they knew not possible, a strength that is in all of us. 

Now the burden of that dreadful hope falls upon the millions of people who have fled their homes since the war began, many of whom are living in refugee camps still cut off by Government forces.

I for one wish there was something I could do, some way I could halt the tide of hatred that is engulfing the western world before Tomorrow's hope is all that we have left to cling to.

Migos & Marshmello - Danger (from Bright: The Album)

My children asked if I could write something that would sound good on a Transformers soundtrack. This is what I came up with. It's meant to sound menacing but epic, and I wanted to give some impression of machinery/robots.

Piano / keyboard player based in North Wales.  I like to write music that's beautiful and has lots of movement. I draw from a whole range of genres but mostly electronic and orchestral.

I love listening to Danny Bryd, Shostakovich and Mike Oldfield, so a real mixture!
