OKeh short history: 

OKeh was founded by Otto K. E. Heinemann when he set up his own recording studio and gramophone record pressing plant in New York City in September 1918. Heinemann formed the name of the record label "OKeh", from his initials.  OKeh began by issuing popular songs, dance numbers, and vaudeville skits similar to the fare of other labels, but Heineman also wished to experiment with music for audiences neglected by the larger record companies. OKeh produced lines of recordings in German, Czech, Polish, Swedish, and Yiddish for the USA's immigrant communities. In 1920, Ralph Peer's recordings by African-American blues singer Mamie Smith were a surprise smash hit for Okeh. The company perceived the significant, little-tapped market for blues and jazz by African American artists. Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Bix Beiderbecke are only a few names of jazz greats that have recorded for the label. By 1926 Columbia Records bought the label and kept it running into the 60's with jazz and R&B recordings. 

In 1994, Sony Music reactivated the OKeh label as a new-age Blues label. Okeh's first new signings included Keb' Mo, Popa Chubby, and Little Axe. By 2000, the Okeh label was again retired, but in 2013 it will see its re-launch as a jazz label once again.

eNGee dadon
Formerly known as DJ Pickney

Nasheer Garth Walters, a/k/a eNGee dadon, was born on the first of August, in the rural seaside town of Annotto Bay in the Parish of St. Mary in Jamaica. 

eNGee is a multitalented artist who writes, sings and produces music which has a dual purpose, to entertain and to educate. His style is a blend of unique and original lyrics and rhythms performed with high emotionality, drama and humor.  He presents a new interpretation of Reggae in the dancehall style, reinventing it and taking it to a new level.  The typical dancehall music style features lyrics which are raw, which appeals to a discrete audience who appreciates its expressive and explicit lyrics.  eNGee employs a more subtle approach, which allows him to connect with a wider audience, taking reggae music to the heights seen by one of his first mentors, Bob Marley. 

eNGee’s newest singles Sting Retards and 1800yardpimp fully demonstrates his wit and musical style.  Sting Retards is a summary of the artists in attendance and their performance, at Sting 2008.  In 1.800yardpimp, eNGee features international recording artist Red Rat, in a light tongue in cheek look at the world’s oldest profession through the eyes of the providers, the commodity they trade is girls. In their words “a bear gal we a sell.”   Another recent single, Immigrant, was released in January, 2009. It is a political commentary on the immigrant experience in America.  In Immigrant, eNGee reminds President Barack Obama that immigrants work three jobs just to survive and deserve a chance to live the American dream.

eNGee believes that his music touches people because his “lyrics inspires them and gives them confidence in themselves while at the same time they can relate to the music and dance to it at the same time.”  He will continue this trend with his upcoming releases which addresses current issues such as youth and guns, society’s reliance upon and relationship with the internet and cellular phone usage.

eNGee was known as a gifted child, full of creativity and talented in the performing arts.  His need to broaden his wings as an entertainer was not supported in his Christian home, so with a sense of purpose and adventure, he left home in search of a future as a musician and entertainer, at the tender age of eleven. 

At age fourteen, eNGee was discovered by Disc Jockey Youthman Troy, who regularly would spin tunes at the Roof Night Club in Ocho Rios.  eNGee was oftentimes the winner of the Talent Contest held there on Tuesday evenings.  Youthman Troy took him to Kingston and recorded eNGee’s first single called “God is my closest friend”, a dance hall song which was played frequently at the Roof Night Club.


I have always had a passion for music but never took my own music too seriously until 2012 when I decided to try and pursue it to the next level and enter the music business full time.  I started by organising my own concert to launch my album "If It Had Not Been". After the launch I was Fortunate enough to have the opportunity to perform in some high profile gigs.   Unfortunately everything changed on the 1st October 2012 - seven days before my birthday - I fell ill.  My health quickly deteriorated and I became so ill I couldn't walk, then breathing became harder and harder. Soon every time I tried to speak or walk I would cough violently.   In January 2013 after seeing seven doctors, repeated visits to the A&E and with no diagnosis I was admitted to Croydon University Hospital. The same week I wrote on my Facebook wall that I was quitting music.  Fortunatly my wife saw it and immediately deleted it without my knowledge until some days later. I had decided to quit because until my decision to take my music ministry seriously I was fine.  My life was absolutely perfect.  I had a wonderful family; no money worries and my business was successful. So what was the point of doing this if it was going to cost me my health?

After going through so much pain and heartache in 2014 i managed to release an album, which I had decided to achieve to make myself feel better.

This year I have decided to prayerfully go fully on into my Music Ministry - this time prayerfully. I made this decision because with the illness and all the challenges I have faced in the last couple of years it has taught me that I am actually important, valuable and relevant to the Kingdom of God. The devil's’ efforts have shown me that I'm a threat to him, so now I am coming even stronger bigger better and with all the hosts of heaven... HERE I AM!!. 

I want to say that whatever you are undertaking for God don't let the devil’s attempt to silence you, keep you down, knock you out  - prevail. At the same time wisdom is called for.... Don't go into anything without prayer. Let God be ahead of you and the centre of everything you decide to do.  You will succeed with Jesus on your side.
