Deep, Soulful, Jazzy, Funky House tunes have dominated the soundtrack that has played in the background of my friendships, relationships, family, travel, work, growth, social circles and culture throughout my life.  The past 20 years I have  Dj'd it, Promoted it, Produced it, Performed it Live and I would not trade a single moment of it. A Michael John dj set or a live show with Soul System compile so many amazing memories and friendships.  Even now in my mid thirties with my wife and 3 kids in tow I am a house head still and will be forever.  Perhaps we will see eachother again on a dance floor or in a DJ Booth.... you never know! 

I fell in love with house music at the early age of 17. The year was 1994 and the Midwest rave scene was just starting to blossom. I took a liking to the sound coming out of Chicago. Some of my early influences were; Dj Sneak, Derrick Carter, Miles Meada, Traxx, Justin Long, Cajmere and Lego. I would end up starting my DJ career on Chicago’s north side. There I worked for Sun Ra Productions and played such parties as Cosmic Cup of Cappuccino alongside Boo Williams, Derrick Carter and Robert Armani. I later made connections with Terry Martin and was booked to open up for Derrick Carter at Chicago’s very own Smart Bar. I eventually took my knowledge back to Wisconsin and joined forces with 3D Concept Entertainment. We pooled our ideas together and brought a dance mecca to the Fox Valley. Like all good things in small cities it eventually came to an end. I then took time to travel and play throughout the United States mostly in L.A., San Diego, Mexico, Phoenix and down South. I was able to bring the Chicago house sound to area's heavily influenced by breaks and drum n bass and it was received well by all. After about 4 years off from the industry i moved back to Wisconsin from my home state of Michigan. There I began to work with Epiphic, which was an up and coming house music collective ran by my good friend Michael John. We once again had a thriving house music scene back in the Appleton and Green Bay areas, which lasted for some time. Michael and I started to produce tracks for his record label Epiphic Recordings. Using the aliases of Sterling Johnson & Tyrone James we released two e.p.s on Epiphic. In 2009 I met up with an old friend and decided to start another collective, which would later turn out to be Future Funk Foundation. We worked very hard together and by 2010 we had 2 releases out on Integrity Records. I am currently working on my own solo projects. The first being The Full Spectrum e.p. which is set to be released on June 15th 2011 on Integrity Records. I would like to give a special shout out to my good friend Kay Jay of Soul Deep Collective for believing in me and inspiring me to fulfill my dreams.&#13;

Plushouse Recordings is the Fox Cities only House music imprint. Based soley on the funky and deep side of House music. We will be focusing on new artists as well as established artists. My goal is to bring a broad spectrum of all genre's of House music. And at the same time maintaining House music's original roots. With Just a couple months behind us plushouse is starting to become an indie favorite. Celebrating our 10th release and many more scheduled for this fall. With such artists as Greenbay Jackers who have reached the top 60 on stompy in only its first 2 weeks and rising. To the next generation of All-Star producers such as Sean Michaels, Sean Patrick, Brent Vassar, as well as the newcomers who are making some big noise right out of the gate's like Oli Furness, And Alessandro Arbola. As well as some suprise artists like The New School Hustlers. Plushouse is becoming a dj and fan favorite simply because it's not about the money. It's for the love of House!!!&#13;

🍑Sfunk started with vinyl in 1999 playing for her own enjoyment. She hosted 2 shows on 90.3 WRST- Electronic Underground and Nocturnal Dimensions bringing in midwest djs while rave was under attack by the Rave Act. She took a break while being a badass roller derby player & official, moved to Detroit to join the circus but sadly tore her meniscus right before flying trapeze school. 
An abrupt relocation back to Wi in 2020 saw her entered the digital world. She jumped to Houston joining forces with Soul Bass Project & later HDC Houston Dj Collective. During that time still playing for herself and playing intimate house parties, sfunk went on to play her first party Barnyard Boogie #19 in Chicagoland in 2021 right to playing the historic Houston Silos for SDC's Where the Wild Things Are, to blessing the skyline views at Sunset in downtown Houston for TheCrew/BassMafia's SOLID monthly. sfunk loves to travel and make you bounce 🍑, loves cortland apples, making people laugh, getting lost in nature, helping other newer women djs hone their skills, and can be spotted rocking her Fr🐸g hat at festivals. She also enjoys being part of the string art installation crew at infrasound, tipper n friends), and helping run lazers with her dear friend Elfscape.

I coined myself Dj Cook in 1993 in Madison, WI.  I saw turntables as plates in the kitchen and the mixer as a device for making entrees.  I viewed the EQ and effects as a way of spicing up and garnishing those plates.  In the end I drew parallels between music and food.  

My motto:  A cook provides food for the table.. Dj Cook provides ear food on the turntable.  

As of late I've been tinkering with 'lectronic music production under the name "Kitchen Boy".  I'm really diggin production.  I feel it completes the natural progression of FIRST a dancer, then a DJ, then a producer.

 Everything is a work in progress.. and Goddamnit if I don't love Techno and food!
