Célia Moreira, aka @morsil__ , and techno are a case of overwhelming and unbridled passion. It’s one of those types that happen at first glance, without context or explanation. A relationship as unlikely as late, since not even her first contacts with music have made it predictable. Fan of metal and rock, influenced by friends, and later hardcore and drum n' bass — it is through these styles that she has first entered the world of electronic music.

An elusive figure known for dark atmospheric peak-time material, Fanon Flowers is a unique and respected techno music producer and DJ.

Fanon (pronounced Fuh-nahn) naturally gravitated to the more dominate post-industrial machine sounds of early Detroit techno and developed a style which combined hypnotic turbid mechanical syncopated rhythms. 

His abundant output spanning three decades has seen releases on Planet E, Modularz, and Pole Group to name a few. Early releases on the now defunct German cult label E-Com, helped establish Fanon as a credible international producer with uncompromising authenticity and devotion. Fanon’s musical vision confirms Detroit techno’s foundation while remaining relevant. He also provides a commanding DJ performance full of intensity, stretching the boundaries and maintaining a firm connection to the dance floor.

DJ T-1000 joins for DifferentSound Podcast #154.

Detroit-born, Berlin-based Alan D. Oldham has been called "Detroit Techno's Renaissance Man" by Muzik Magazine (UK). Electronic musician, label owner, remixer, graphic illustrator, and international DJ, Oldham-under his stage name DJ T-1000-does it all. A lifelong cartoonist and graphic designer, a young Oldham published his own indie comic book "Johnny Gambit" in 1987 to local notoriety. Hired that same year by his childhood friend Derrick May to illustrate several memorable pieces for his new Transmat label, this led to Oldham's very first involvement in the fledgling techno scene. More art requests quickly followed, most famously from the Djax-Up-Beats label (NL), where his art took center stage for many years (the lone EP that Oldham produced for Djax, under the name Signal To Noise Ratio, brought home a 1991 Detroit Metro Times Music Award for best single in "Detroit Is Burning"). At the same time, college-student Oldham was hired at local radio station WDET, hosting Detroit's first-ever all-electronic radio program, "Fast Forward," introducing artists like UR, Richie Hawtin and Carl Craig to local airwaves.When he's not behind the decks or in the studio producing electronic dance music for labels like Tresor Berlin, Inzec (CH), Minimalsoul (CH), or his own Pure Sonik and Generator imprints, Oldham has provided artwork for the electronic music industry for almost 20 years. Also, his drawings and large-scale paintings have been on display in art galleries in Chicago, Berlin, Paris, Los Angeles, and most recently a sold-out opening in Amsterdam.

Rápidamente cruzó la frontera de su país, tocando en Portugal (Covilha) y Alemania (Berlín). Ha compartido cabina con artistas como Oscar Mulero, Ben Sims, Regis, Sandwell District, Function, Surgeon, Dave Clarke, Reeko, Exium, Christian Wünsch, Kr!z y SHXCXCXSH…  Lowsystem, un peso pesado y buena parte visible y artística de Speaks Silence. Un virtuoso detrás de la cabina que anda por encima de cualquier moda e ideología si se habla de Techno. Las señas de identidad de Lowsystem hacen que sus sets no sean una consecución de temas, si no algo contextualizado y convertirlo en una experiencia única. Sus sesiones describen una historia, escrita con hipnosis, obscura, los clásicos de techno y una técnica admirable a 3 platos.

EPM Podcast 160 comes from US DJ/producer Mike Derer. Mike has been at the forefront of the United States techno scene since the late 1990s, initially influenced by Chicago House, he later developed his passion for techno. Developing his own identity and sound of deep, hypnotic techno that is groovy, stripped down and yet effective he then started the label Northern Parallels in 2018. Taking on younger and upcoming producers in addition with inviting legendary producers such as DJ Hyperactive & Dustin Zahn, Northern Parallels focuses on deeper, tripped out, hypnotic techno meant for the dance floor which is exactly Mike’s approach here as he mixes up the likes of Marco Carola, Packard, Rene Wise, Mattias Fridell & Alexander Johansson, Amorphic, Killa Bite, Donato Dozzy, Adam Beyer, Woody McBride and more.
