EPM.183 comes from Techmarine Bottom Feeder’s man, Paris the Black Fu. Paris is also the founder of the Detroit Grand Pu-bahs, through which he created an entirely new genre in electronic music in the early 2000s that fused the wigged-out madness of Par-liament and Funkadelic to modern day Detroit techno and electro. Adding some riotous festive funK to the EPM mix series his ‘Fu FuN FuNK Time Capsule’ goes back to the roots of booty shaking bounce as he brings together party classics and lesser-known gems in his own cheeky style. Featuring Cameo, Was (Not Was), Foxy, Brick, Rick James, Teena Marie, The Brothers Johnson, Don Black-man, Ohio Players, Hamilton Bohannon, Kool & The Gang, Earth, Wind & Fire, WAR, The Jimmy Castor Bunch and more, it’s time to wiggle with the master of giggle!

Techmarine Bottom Feeders, the solo project of Paris the Black FU from Detroit Grand Pubahs, follows up 2020's album ‘Boanerges and the Watery Deep’ and July's ‘Sirens of War’ EP (on Engine-room) with a double-headed release in the guise of new single ‘The Hydra’ followed by the ‘Techmarine Bottom Feeders Remixes’ a week later.  Whilst the new single gives a pointer to the project's next underwater adventures, the compilation of remixes puts to-gether a stunning array of artists including Cristian Vogel, Ectomorph, The Exaltics, The Advent & Zein, Aux 88 and Dadub who all draw from the 2020 album whilst Paris' fellow Grand Pubah, Mr. O. delivers a brand-new interpretation of new single, ‘The Hydra’, cranking up the tempo with a driving techno banger!

EPM.183 - Paris the Black FU (Techmarine Bottom Feeders)

EPM.184 comes from Theiz, an artist who has just dropped his fifth release on EPM. With a production attitude that harks back to the more warm and delicate techno and IDM sounds of Terrace, Black Dog, B12, Kenny Larkin and Stasis, his emotive electronica is further captured in this mix that brings the tempo and lights down for a heady, home listening excursion. Featuring the likes of Joep Beving, Martin Nonstatic, Nadia Struiwigh, Lake Haze, TV99AD, Jeff Beck, Tim Hecker, Húsdreki and Martin Kohlstedt this is an immersive mix to lose yourself in.

Theiz (Mathijs Schippers) is now some 30 years deep in the scene. Having re-leased on labels such as Eevolute, Techno-Tourist and Ear-land Recordings in the late 90s and early 00s, Mathijs began producing again in 2015 with no pressure to release – simply just for the sake of making new music.  His activity as a music journalist brought him back into contact with the music industry and now freshly motivated, he is firmly in the saddle with multiple releases on EPM as well as recent releases on Belgium’s Crossfadesounds, Iceland’s Moatun7 and Canada’s Stasis Recordings.

Theiz's musical journey actually goes back to the end of the eighties. Influenced by Ben Liebrand, Bomb the Bass, Coldcut, Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream, he experimented by remixing tracks using an old tape recorder and cassette decks.  At age 17-18 he met the twin brothers Tonie and Peter Van der Loon who opened up a whole new world for him: synthesizers and the underground music scene.  This broadened his horizons with Detroit's Derrick May and Kenny Lar-kin, Richie Hawtin, B12 and Sun Electric all making a big impression.  Years of making music in their little studio in the Van der Loon garage, monthly record buying trips to Amsterdam and the occasional club night resulted in a few re-leases on Eevolute as East Island in the second half of the 90s. In 2000 the first Theiz solo release 'It's Done' became real (as part of Techno Tourist's Various Artists 'Follow the Beat' EP alongside artists such as The Moderator and TV99AD).

At a certain point somewhere in 2019 he spontaneously decided to send some tracks to one of these contacts: EPM Music. As they say, the rest is history as he drops his fourth EP forth eh label, following 2023’s debut album ‘All That Remains’.

EPM.185 comes from Marshall Jefferson. Marshall is one of house music’s most important founding fathers. A key player in the Chicago house scene from the start, re-leases like ‘Open Our Eyes’, ‘7 Ways to Jack’ and the immortal ‘Move Your Body’ have had an undeniable impact on the development of house music as we know it today. He has recorded solo and collaborative material under various names such as Virgo, Jungle Wonz, Truth and On the House – many of which have elevated house music to a new level. We are totally honoured to have Marshall deliver a prime house party mix that brings a mixture of classic cuts and lesser-known gems with releases from Mr. Fingers, Hanna, Alex Finkin, DJ Disciple, Sebb Junior, Grant Nelson and Joe Smooth’s roof rais-ing anthem. A total joy from beginning to end!

Sometimes known as the God Father of house music, Grammy Nominated Jefferson was originally a record producer in the Universal Recording Studios in Chicago, where he met the owner of Trax Records, Larry Sherman.  Jefferson’s 1986 single for Trax, “Move Your Body”, the first house song to use piano, was a popular and influential song in the genre. During the late-1980s heyday of house music, he recorded solo and collaborative material under various names such as Virgo, Jungle Wonz, Truth, and On the House. Jefferson’s deep house productions include songs by CeCe Rogers and Sterling Void, and Ten City’s first two albums. 

Jefferson’s releases like ‘Open Our Eyes’, ‘7 Ways to Jack’ and the immortal ‘Move Your Body’ had an undeniable impact on the development of house music as we know it today. Jefferson’s releases on the iconic TRAX Records helped establish the label as one of Chicago’s best, and he has continued to put out some of the most widely-acclaimed mu-sic in house music history.  Over the years, Marshall has had a hand in house music’s evolution, spearheading the acid house movement with his work on the seminal ‘Acid Trax’ with DJ Pierre in 1987. He also turned his hand to deep house, most notably on ‘Open Our Eyes’, released in 1988 on Big Beat, which connected emotionally and physi-cally with listeners.  As well as growing the genre in his hometown, Marshall Jefferson was integral to house music’s growth worldwide. The DJ headline the first House Music Tour of Europe in 1987. After a brief hiatus in the early 1990s, Marshall began his legend-ary five-year residency with the Tribal Gathering and Big Love Events in London, during which time he released his 1997 studio album ‘Day Of The Onion’, which is considered one of the best house full-lengths of all time.  

Today, Jefferson continues to release original productions and extended mixes including remixes for Katy Perry, Galantis, Pet Shop Boys, and Oliver Heldens, alongside his standout DJ shows around the globe.  House music truly wouldn’t be the same without him.

EPM.186 comes from Tal Fussman. Tal creates music that works in many set-tings and transcends genres. His openness to a wide range of sound is what has both made him a widely loved favourite and also someone who operates in his own parallel musical world. Here Tal delivers a techno mix that brings in el-ements of IDM and electro, giving the mix a diverse edge. With tracks from Bio-sphere, Peter Van Hoesen, JakoJako & Rødhåd, Carl Finlow, Djrum, Robert Hood, DJ Bone, Mark Broom and Kashpitzky plus more, Tal takes us for a glori-ous electronic dancefloor ride across the tracks.

In late 2022, Tal announced the launch of his imprint ‘Survival Tactics’, with the first release being his debut album (June 2023). Tal grew up in a small town next to Tel Aviv and today resides in Berlin - ready to take on whatever adven-ture is awaiting for him.
