Playground Records is thrilled to drop our 69th main-catalogue release: Is Ma Jaus, a raw, 90s-school house EP from Spanish duo Panka Panka. Three original tracks deliver chunky grooves, analog-style warmth and those restless dance-floor energies that live just on the edge. There's no fluff - just deep swings, open-ended peaks and an invitation to lose yourself in the pulse.

The package is sealed with a sharp remix from Mexican producer Cabizbajo, who reworks the title track 'Is Ma Jaus' into something darker and more nocturnal. Together this EP offers a rhythm-driven trip between vintage house textures and late-hour club intensity - precisely the kind of sound we live for at Playground.

For our sixth release, Parang Recordings is proud to present our first various artists compilation EP, featuring both emerging and established talents with a range of sounds from diverse backgrounds.
 
Lil Sorry and Lord of Leisure, both producers from Offenbach whose work has appeared on some of our favorite house labels, showcase Offenbach’s established deep house vibe with their contributions veering towards the gentle, the sublime, and the melodic. The understated dub influences in Lil Sorry’s ‘High Noon’ help to disguise its brisk tempo, further submerged by foregrounding of textured pads and wayward electronics that take center stage on this subdued groove. Lord of Leisure’s ‘Coffee N Chups’ is a sunrise house groover powered by funky bass and choppy hat and snare combos that keep the drive over sustained pads and a deep, repeating melody.
 
Shifting scenes to the UK for Manchester’s Spin Fidelity, a newly established name from releases on Barcelona’s revered Subwax, we find the toughest offering, a Detroit-inspired gem that lands solidly in the morning slot.

Rounding out the VA we have the head of London’s Rube Goldberg Series, Bowyer, who has so far remained mostly on his own imprint and is the freshest face here. His ‘Livelovelaugh’ closes the EP with its brightest offering, all melodic bassline, sunny keyboards, and worked vocal snippets with a punchline vocal at dramatic points to reinforce its uplifting demeanor.

We have been patiently waiting for a few months to bring you this edition of the Equal / Distant podcast as we are very excited for this one. We are honored to welcome our very first live set and guest from Japan - Masa (@fucksleepmasa).

Building deep sounds from Nagoya, Masa has been in the scene since 2003 and discovered his passion for electronic music after attending several parties in India and across Europe. With the encourage of his friends, he soon started to produce his own music and vision for sound.

Masa now runs his own label fücksleep(@fucksleep_podcasting) and puts his most focus towards playing live sets. Recently, he also released the Lonesome Rummy EP on Japan's well known RICE label. He also plays under the alias of shibamasa with his counterpart Shiba and has also had experience playing with Daniel Bell, Barbara Preisinger, Jan Kruger, 
Julietta, Sander Baan, Dafoe, Claudia Amprimo, Thilo, Samuel Deep, Dj Masada, Yone-ko, Kyoka.

Take a moment, plug off the screens, sit back and enjoy this wonderful ride that Masa has composed for us.

With the start of the second chapter of our track releases, we are also proud to announce the latest edition of our Equal Podcasts with Rob Collman (@robc) of Stopouts / Alien Recordings (@alienrecordings).

The mix itself is made up of Rob's year long favorites, a few tracks from some talented friends and cohorts, some tracks that he has been digging lately and upcoming productions from Alien Recordings, including one from a new label they are just starting up called "Alien Imprints".

"Play the music that everybody loves but nobody knows" is the best way to describe @Sunaas, a 24 years old Parisian DJ and producer. Passionate about old and uncommon records, either in a set or in his productions, he loves using old sounds to create something new. He doesn't like to label his music under genres such as minimal, house, breakbeat, techno.. For Sunaas, he feels what he plays and plays what he feels. The goal for him is to make a journey for the audience and have the listeners travel through his set.

It is with great joy and excitement that we would like to present the latest edition of our podcast releases featuring a young artist from Romania, Dimitrie Jbanca (@dimitriejbanca).

Influenced by the early 90s groovy beats that were produced all around the globe, Dimitrie's style was formed. With a ravenous appetite for digging and searching through old records, Dimitrie started to collect records and produce music, blending melodic synths with dirty drums and odd samples with classic 909 rhythms. 

In 2018, Anxious Delay Group (adg303) was formed, when Andu Simion, Dimitrie, and his brother, George, decided they should combine their varied style into one piece and create ADG. 

Techno, House or Breaks; Electro, Breakbeat, or IDM; no matter what your choices are, you will enjoy Dimitrie's DJ sets. Versatility, groove, and passionate attention to details have proven over the years to be his trademarks when "attacking the musical topics" in his life. This set reflects a great part of Dimitrie's influence and taste over the years. We hope you truly enjoy this set as we did.

We are pleased to welcome @nikizi, one of our dearest friends and an extremely talented artist for this month's installment of Equal / Distant.

Nikizi has always been passionate about music. When he was a child, he was exposed to music at home, from rock to soul music, and soon discovered the hip-hop movement thanks to french rap, around the age of 11. Since then, he has been locked to it and it has acted as a huge influence to his productions.

Shortly after, he discovered electronic music when first going to clubs during his teenage years and started to be part of the underground scene when he first started Djing and promoting parties around the age of 21.

Without further ado, we invite you to listen to this lovely set which includes a selection of his favorites and influences. This is a truly special mix and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
