Scatcity’s label head Skatman debuts his first EP on the collective with ‘Back In The Zukunft’. After a series of appearances on the imprint, the Berlin based producer drops a powerful four tracker that sees the return of Ivory on the rework. 

Opening up with the title track, electric synths frantically riff over a rolling bassline, quickly morphing into a brooding alliance that combine and chug endlessly into the distance. 

With huge support already from Dixon, ‘Psyche’ makes out for a real peak time delivery from Skatman. A melodic synth line hovers effortlessly against a looming range of chords and a chunky bassline, opening its filters slowly as you become submersed deep into its dream like atmosphere.  

Rolling onto the B-side, a percussive groove lays the foundation for ‘Meraki’, as he leaves space for a gentle melody to gradually fill the mix, gathering its intensity as it suddenly morphs into an acidic strike.  

Welcoming back Ivory with, he flips ‘Meraki’ into a much darker and hypnotic charge, rounding off the EP and leaving one last mark on the dancefloor.

@JackWasFaster makes his debut for @FactorCity with four excellent dance-floor cuts that bridge the currents of slow-mo techno and cosmic disco, a perfect blend of darkness and light.

“Perro viejo” is a 12’ apocalyptic jam built around pulsating beats, an industrial atmosphere, and acid synths.  Italian duo @YoungerThanMe chose this track to remix, condensed it and added extra tension by adding synth stabs and vocal chops. Rave on!

Frankey & Sandrino have been staples on labels like Innervisions, Mule Musiq and Drumpoet Community since their partnership first yielded fresh fruits back in 2010.  Delicate electronics bubble, and icy melodies float over ‘Mira’s spacey aura, bringing together elements of 90s IDM and minimal techno in a refreshing way.  On ‘Naos’, a chugging groove and Italo inspired bassline unfolds to expose a transcendental lead line and a cosmic semblance that’s as infectious as it is irresistible.  

Cin Cin founder, Fort Romeau, delivers two cuts on home turf, teaming up with Jas Shaw (one half of Brit electronic duo, Simian Mobile Disco, and currently releasing solo material as part of his Exquisite Cops series) for a brace of deep, intergalactic tracks.  ‘Saturn Ascends’ is a space age, acid romance, whilst ‘Voices [no.III]’ offers up a more spirited piece, with lively percussion and a flitting tonal riff that is teased and tweaked through the space echo for good measure.

microCastle begins the summer season by welcoming Ivory to the label for his debut EP. Based in Milan, Daniel Tagliaferri aka Ivory is an Italian producer, DJ and guitarist who has enjoyed a rapid ascent through the electronic underground. Long a favourite of Ame, Dixon, John Digweed, Lehar, Nick Warren, Tale Of Us and Trikk, Daniel’s music has found a home on some of the world’s trendiest record labels, most notably Atlant Recordings, Azzur, Bedrock, Chapter 24, Isolate, MoBlack and Kompakt. Now following his critically acclaimed ‘Hyper’ EP, Ivory presents his microCastle debut ‘No Scale Can Resize You’.

Spread across five tracks, the 'No Scale Can Resize You’ collection is a blend of dance floor inspired storyboards and contemporary electronica. Beginning with the pulsating energy and buzzing design of the Tale Of Us championed title selection, to the quirky musicality and cosmic funk of ‘Biscuit’, it's Daniel’s' borderless scope and creative vision which resonates on a high frequency here.

Anchoring the EP’s midway point is the much anticipated ‘Pfauneinsel’. Already a favourite of Lehar, it’s a tough yet hypnotic piece driven by unique rhythmic concepts and a flair for the dramatic. Most solemn perhaps is ‘Romantic Circuits’, whose astral arps and robotic vocals fuel this indie-tech gem, before perfectly segueing into the journey’s closer ‘Biggest Eyes On Earth’. Once again played by Tale Of Us and surrounded by much hype, it’s reflective qualities are both emotive and timeless, rounding out a collection of music which has already made its mark on the world’s most rebellious dance floors. For Daniel it's a unique anthology, one of boundless inspiration and endless possibilities, as he describes.

"Music is always about storytelling, 'No Scale Resize You' is a collection of short stories where there's not words, they give way to melodies, sounds and percussive elements to sing a song full of grace, delicate groove hypnosis and evocative soundscapes. Every sound has been modeled to create a parallel universe, with magical creatures that speak to us through synths and sound design. Drawing this EP was like a flow of consciousness, many different musical influences converged like rivers to create a unique body of water, one that reflects the soul of these musical tales, dark atmospheres, middle-eastern melodies, robotic beats, dreamy pads, wistful strings and analogic arps; where every part is an element of the same wild land discovered during the listening. An epical journey about strength, bravery, magic, mysticism and love. With his upcoming Keinemusik release, &ME is kick-starting the time machine, beaming you right into the year "1995". You know, the year in which Microsoft released Windows 95, Miguel Induráin is winning the Tour de France for the fifth time in a row and Robbie Williams quits his job at the Take That enterprise. In addition to those crucial events, that time also sees the rise of Two Step and Garage in the UK underground. Now play the eponymous tune on the A-side and you'll feel beamed right back into these days. "1995" comes along in absence of a straight kick, filling that gap with dense subbass layers and phantasmal Ambient soundscapes. Then again, there is that tambourine loop, getting the groove on, a staccato synth getting into your head immediately and those high pitched vocals providing the needed amount of oddness. A tune most folks might not have expected from &ME, yet one of his strongest anyhow.

"Starting Again feat. Atelier" finds the man going back to more common ground, re-introducing the straight kickdrum, wading through a haze of Ambient- and pad-layers, installing a catchy synth on top and then letting those utmost affecting vocals shine. Vocals that, as well as the guitar arrangements, come courtesy of Jas, the singer of Atelier - a band from South Africa.
