This song is a part of ancient spring/early summer ritual coming from south of Belarus and north-eastern part of Ukraine. "The Burial of the Arrow" involves singing, dancing and the burial of a specific object, coin, doll or simply some metal object (may vary from one village to another, as well as lyrics and melody of the songs). As per words of the latest bearers of this tradition, it is done with the aim of causing rain and making the land fertile. It has pagan origins and, according to some theories, in the ancient times was performed in honor of Piarun. Per some sources, "arrow" in ancient times meant lightning. This ritual survived both Christian and Soviet times and is held in many places till today. "Burial of the Arrow" is included in the List of Intangible Historical and Cultural Values ​​of Belarus.
