Erdwin García is a songwriter, performer and composer from Cruces, Cienfuegos Province, Cuba. He has loved music since he was a child and grew up listening to the rich culture of Cuban music – Benny Moré, la Aragón, Compay Segundo, Sindo Garay as well as the more modern sounds of Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Carlos Varela and Havana Abierta.

From an early age, Erdwin dreamt of making his own music so he studied guitar, tres, bass and percussion. Later he began to develop his skills as a composer and over time fused the Cuban influences of his childhood with the music of Brazil and US to create the sound of his debut album ‘Removiendo’.

The story of this album began in July 2009 when Erdwin and his band performed at the opening of an art exhibition in Trinidad. Producer Bob Jackson saw the performance, was blown away by what he heard and returned two years later with a mobile recording studio. In the midst of a tropical heat-wave the album was recorded in an old Spanish Colonial-era house. These songs are mainly observations on the Cuban way of life, blending the local troubadour style with Son, Reggae and Bossa Nova to create a sound that is uniquely Cuban…
