Officially formed in 2007 by Eric Labrie and Mezzo-soprano Mireille Tessier, Kalte Traurigkeit released, in 2008, their first album called "Equilibrium" , which is the first opus of a trilogy written by Eric Labrie. The album neoclassical, dark ambient tones are characterized by heavy strings sections, a sorrowful feel and a cinematic soundscape.
 
Equilibrium was produced in H.E.A.D. Studio by Olivier Rhéaume. 

In March 2012, Mireille left the project. Mellisa Dube was approached but finally 
declined the offer. In march 2013, Soprano Geneviève Roussel officialy entered the project as the new lead singer.
