Fermion is the duo of Eric Shans and Augustine Backer and their second full length album “Hysteresis” is a marked change for the act. Where as “Elegiac” and “We Are Nowhere” explored the more synth-pop and at times industrial side of things, “Hysteresis” drives that with a deep EBM framed engine into higher gear. Big, bold, and dark, it’s indicative of the time period of 2020 to 2021 but it’s not without that glimmer and flicker of hope in that darkness. 

Lead single “Butcher” pounds with nasty bass lines, warped vocals, and shimmering melody (a testament to a modern approach with retro influences), the OMD cover “Messages” takes the original 80s song and flips on its head into a body music dance floor anthem, and songs like “Alarms Will Sound” and “All One” delve into heady synth pop sounds that echo bands like Camouflage and Clan Of Xymox with a steely sheen around the edges.  

The album is a journey of self reflection, a letting go of the past, and cautiously optimistic outlooks of the future - lyrically abstract and at the same time nuanced with anticipation and promise.

We're super pleased to welcome Arabian Panther to the series. The French/Lebanese producer and DJ is a favorite amongst the GF team. He's a founding member of the Toulouse Gouffre Club, which is a label and collective, and will release their debut next week on June 21st. A committed artist, he is very close to the Palestinian scene and cause. He signed his first track on the first Palestinian techno label “Harara” and was able to perform twice in Ramallah and Haifa. He recently released a track on Jennifer Cardini's label, Dischi Autunno, and is currently working on his debut album. He’s a 5-year resident at Monticule Festival and Radio Flouka. His style oscillates between warrior downtempo, slow goa, EBM, and everything in between. His hour-long selection is an energetic slo-mo journey perfect for the weather here in the city. Lock in!

was sollen sie tun, was fangen sie am besten mit ihrer Zeit an. Nach der Schule werden sie in die große weite Welt entlassen, für viele ist diese Freiheit erst einmal belastend. Soll es lieber das Ausland, die Ausbildung oder das Studium werden, sollte man sich lieber bei einem Betrieb oder doch einer Hochschule bewerben. Vorausgesetzt man hat ein Abitur, anderenfalls limitiert sich die Wahlnatur. So oder so das Leben schreitet weiter, entweder geradeaus oder auf Umwegen erklimmt man Stück für Stück die Sprossen der Lebensleiter. Jedoch treten immer wieder Phasen der Ratlosigkeit auf, man verzagt, verzweifelt und nimmt wohl oder übel Ungewissheit in Kauf. Vom Glück und allen guten Geistern verlassen, beginnt man das Leben und die Existenz zu hassen. Am tiefsten Punkt realisiert man schlussendlich, dass Dasein auf dieser Erde ist begrenzt und endlich. Es ist das größte Geschenk was man bekommen kann und plötzlich verspürt man wieder diesen unbändigen Tatendrang. Nun geht es unzweifelhaft wieder Bergauf und das Schicksal nimmt seinen Lauf. Man muss die Gelegenheit nur beim Schopf ergreifen, seinem inneren Ruf folgen, er wird dich zu Deiner Bestimmung leiten. 

Heute haben wir das DJ Duo MAMOR auf KataHaifisch zu Gast. 2014 folgten Max und Morten ihrer Leidenschaft zur elektronischen Musik und machten fortan gemeinsame Sache. In ihrem Sound finden sich unzählige Gefühlswelten wieder. Dabei sind sie stets bedacht, sich und ihr Klangbild weiterzuentwickeln. Eines ist bei den beiden jedoch sicher, es wird treibend und rhythmisch, versehen mit der gewissen Portion Wumms. MAMOR hat ein offenes Auge und Ohr für alle Facetten des Genres. The new 4-track EP is also accompanied by a pair of stellar acid tinged remixes: hard techno from DJ Nookie under his Binary State moniker and tech house rave from Fuse resident Seb Zito.

Skippy vibes and catchy riffs abound in A-side track 'Feel', anchored by an emotional vocal sample and deep sub-bass drops.

For the first remix on 1HX we invited the legendary DJ Nookie to re-work 'Feel' in inimitable techno style. Adopting his Binary State alias, and fresh from remixing Goldie’s classic 'Inner City Life', the resulting remix is hard, uncompromising techno guaranteed to get bodies moving.

IAMI reached out to longtime friend Seb Zito to remix 'Feel', and over the course of 6 minutes he melds together influences from house, techno and rave into a sinuous electronic groove, all acid synths and 21st Century tech house beats. One for fans of Seb Zito, Fuse, and DJ Haus’s ‘Unknown to the Unknown’ imprint.

On the B-side, IAMI shows his now characteristic versatility with 'Seen'. The deep, dark and conspiratorial future garage sounds showing once again IAMI’s deftness of touch and fearless production ethic.
