This song began as a musical letter written, composed, and sung by Carl to Eclectic Collective. We'd been sniffing around each other's pages, admiring each other's work and collaborators. So Carl reached out with this friendly, uplifting song, as a gift to the band. 
Ken was first in line, adding his awesome, driving drums to give us a heartbeat to build upon. Josh came along next and completed the rhythm section with his trusty four-string fretless bass. Stephen was next up to bat, adding his dynamic raspy guitar, which almost sounds like an electrified fiddle. Next up, Mark added the tasteful VST strings arrangement in the second half of Carl's original composition. 
We had it pretty much sounding done, but wanted to spice it up a bit, so we came up with the idea for a coda. Josh added his bass and synth in the closing section, and Tez came up with the thrilling guitar part, as well. Tez also added the thrilling guitar intro, too. 
Once it was in the can, we asked Tez to mix and produce it for us, which he did in his always expert fashion.
This is the first song EC has done with Carl, but we know it won't be the last. We all admire him for his creativity, proficiency, and prolificacy. His page is worth a stroll, too, as it contains a lot of gems.
Thanks again Carl for the wonderful tribute! And as always, we hope folks enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Update 1: Beat the shit out of my keyboard with a cool piano line... It felt good actually and the Italians make these ones strong (Studio Logic) and added more real words as backing vox and developed the lead vox line a little!

Please let me make it clear .. I appreciate greatly the wonderful genuine interactions I had on Instagram. Even this song @clodaghpoetry>IG gave me the word 'Beau'. Thanks Clodagh={more value then the whole of social media}.. . You are soul I'll miss not being on IG.. but I think to make a point.. I'm not sure I'll ever allow the beautiful dark near that place again. I worked hard at it. Had almost around 630 uploads I think. Loads of good energy!

A digital bubble maker on steroids! Fuck Instagram and fuck social media! it's poisoning humanity... SoundCloud is genuinely different because we are sharing what we love warts and all... Maybe social media (it should be called  anti-social media because that's what it is largely) it is the main thing making people indifferent... In fact I don't know why I'm saying maybe... Shout out to Ben Howard and Nick Mulvey... I was thinking of both of them being inspirations for this type are guitar playing. Obviously they are the cream of the crop but I think its tne subtle one semitone movement as melody in the chord that makes it nice and emotive and the two lads are top of the food chain there!


I'll try for a more level headed behind the track on where this has come from. SoundCloud has been a great experience with the genuine engagement and real feedback and inspiration. Instagram on the other hand has left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not at all referring to the wonderful and fruitful interactions I had but it's just the general indifference I've faced from the majority of people there. I went down that route also to maybe test the waters with people I know with my art and show them how high level everything had got and how deep the messages have become... Virtually zero interest... So back to put my energy where it's not wasted!

Update: Vox improved... Getting close to what I want now. Added a manual drum beat played on keys each element sepoerately but I had to as couldnt get the logixc drummer to do what I needed.. Where's K2 at? :-)

Update: Vox improved and bodhrán added played with xylophone mallets

Update: Day time vox run 1 in. Removed drum track as wasn't happy with it and just jammed nongos. Might need a human drummer here

Update: Added keys. 2 VSTs I hadn't used before. Rising Sun & Plectrum Pad built into Logic

Update: Added bass, rhythm electric guitar & started looking at a drum track. I have it kow in the mix as I think good power will be found in drums somign in and out and leading the emphasis of change in the piece

This guitar line is from my own unreleased song called Buried in Ice. It's 20 years old but because music is the most incredible tool for retaining a memory I recorded it from memory only. This song only exists on video and cassett tape so recall was easier haha. I used the guitar line impulsively earlier for the lyrics I just wrote and used the first verse of the 20 year old song as the last verse in this one as it fit's really well. It should go some lovely places this piece :-) Think Muse and Radiohead in a pot maybe
