It's been a while since I've uploaded a DJ-set on SoundCloud. Most recordings I make, are being used for podcasts. But I've got good reason to post this one myself, because it's the time capsule of the most beautiful DJ experience of my life, which took place in Under Club, Buenos Aires. In 2 parts: first half today, the second half next week.

I can never thank you enough for letting me show you techno in all the colours I see it, moods I feel it and the history that shaped it. Truly unforgettable.

Ha sido un tiempo desde que he subido un DJ-set en SoundCloud. La mayoría de las grabaciones que hago, están siendo utilizados para podcasts. Pero tengo una buena razón para publicar éste a mí mismo, porque es la cápsula del tiempo de la experiencia más hermosa de DJ de mi vida, que tuvo lugar en Under Club, Buenos Aires. En 2 partes: la primera mitad de hoy, la segunda mitad de la próxima semana.
Nunca podré agradecer lo suficiente para dejar que me muestro techno en todos los colores que veo que, estados de ánimo me siento y la historia que le dio forma. Verdaderamente inolvidable.

Biografie Eric de Man

Van tunnelvisie kun je Eric de Man niet betichten. Deze muzikale omnivoor is van vele markten thuis. Invloeden van heinde en ver worden omgetoverd tot dampende, met funk overgoten grooves zoals alleen Eric ze maakt en draait. Evergreens als I Am Somebody (met Gert van Veen) en Saturdaynight (met Colonel Adams) zijn hiervan het onomstotelijke bewijs. En ook de talloze dansvloeren die hij de afgelopen veertien jaar in vervoering heeft gebracht kunnen er amen op zeggen. 

Eric’s roemruchte sets als resident van Club Risk, Now & Wow en Welcome to the Future zijn voor menig artiest de inspiratie geweest om met hetzelfde aanstekelijke enthousiasme te gaan draaien. Voor legendarische releases als die onder alias Astrophunk wordt op Discogs nog altijd grof geld betaald. Maar Eric is er de persoon niet naar om zich blind te staren op zijn roemruchte draaiverleden. Onder het motto “It ain’t where you from, it’s where you at” heeft hij zijn blik al lang gericht op de toekomst. 

Na een aantal experimentele jaren is Eric terug waar we hem het liefst zien: een vis in de vertrouwde wateren van de funky jacking Chicago grooves. Zijn residency voor WKND in Studio 80 heeft daarin een grote rol gespeeld – alsmeer de frisse influx aan klassieke house met een futuristisch randje. Geinspireerd door zijn achtergrond en door alle nieuwe ontwikkelingen in de elektronische muziek draait Eric house voor de eenentwintigste eeuw. Of zoals ze het in cultfilm Paris Is Burning zouden noemen: “Future Roots For Legendary Children.”
