Composer Eric Heitmann and Vocalist Lara Ausensi's second collaboration, The Forest Deep is an ambient epic tale of discovery, wonder, and magic; a quest by moonlight through a mystical forest realm.

The Forest Deep

I was looking out my front window the other day, getting ready to warm up my fingers to play my piano. I sat there watching the weather. It was cold and windy. It wasn't a day that invited you to go outside and enjoy the day. It was January, and springtime with green leaves and flowers were a long way off. I am not a cold weather person. I hibernate in the winter, and don't leave my house unless I have to. As I sat there I started to play a melody with my right hand, and this is the music I recorded that day. If you listen, you will hear the weather - wind, rain, thunder and birds that give you hope and beauty that Spring always follows Winter - every single year. Year after year after year. It doesn't ever get out of order. So I tell myself, "Be patient. Don't wish your life away. It goes by fast enough without wishing Spring were here already." I sigh, and go back to creating music.

Whispers On The Wind

Nearly two years ago, I released one of my favorite tracks from my discography, Who We Are. It was both a question and a statement, examining the essence of our identity. 
Now, as my first release of the year, I’m excited to introduce Who Can We Be, a song that explores the potential of who we can become when we commit our time and energy to growth.
Musically, the song  centers on a repetitive, two-note piano motif with subtle variations, symbolizing how we evolve through life while retaining our core essence. The harmony undergoes shifts throughout, mirroring the changes and transitions we all experience on our personal journeys.
I hope Who Can We Be resonates with you and perhaps inspires you to reflect on your own potential.

Variations on 'Reverie' by Debussy

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
If you can't spot a trend in my current likes it may be because it is diverse. I love listening to all my playlists which contain tracks that I like and if you like any of the music you must thank the artists not me.

A former San Francisco 49er Offensive Lineman, Eric now composes and produces music in the epic, cinematic, and ambient genres. His compositions are, by design, ultra melodic and follow a hybrid orchestral style similar to film composers Hans Zimmer and James Horner, and epic cinematic artist Two Steps From Hell.

Eric lives in Austin, TX, with his wife Emily and their two young daughters, both aspiring musicians :)
