Description: This is my approach to reworking Elodie's track "Red Carpet" as part of the SKIO music remix competition. To me the vocal evokes feelings of reminiscing, nostalgia, sometimes even regret and I tried to match the arrangement to express this as well. As always I took just the vocal and reharmonized and re-arranged everything.

Back to Soundcloud after a long time with a new original track. Available on Spotify from Aug 1st 2022.

Going on a trip to Nice earlier in in the year has left me with wonderful memories of strolling along the promenade next to the beach. Inspired by that feeling of walking by the sea, feeling the sun on your face, hearing the waves and closing your eyes. 

Just breathe.

Strongly influenced by artists like Kiefer, Anomalie and Moonchild. Probably in that order.

2020 was a year in which I rebuilt my studio and started challenging myself with more remix competitions. Very happy with how this one turned out, I've always had a weakness for acoustic piano and in this one I've expanded on the acoustic vs electronic contrast. It's also a track where I've enjoyed integrating the excellent Spitfire Audio Studio Strings.

This track has been lying on my shelf unfinished for ages and I decided to pick it up again now with my new studio setup. It just needed some final polishing but the core of it was there. Interesting experience to collaborate with myself from six(!) years ago.

The core of this track is the bassline against the simple 4/4 kick drum. All the other elements just fell into place.

Grimes was so generous to release her latest single as a DIY kit for music producers, videographers and graphic artists alike. I took the opportunity to use the vocal for a nostalgic downtempo track. The picture captures the mood I was trying to convey with this remake

Chunky/Finesse - Bruno Mars (LIVE ARRANGEMENT)

Another remix I did this year was for Anomalie and Chromeo's "Bend the rules" EP remix competition. This one was so much fun to do. My approach typically is to reharmonize just listening to the vocal and loading up my favorite piano or Rhodes instrument. This one is no different and I'm quite pleased with the end result as a funky / jazzy track quite different from the original.

It's quite apparent that I'm heavily influenced by Anomalie both in harmonies and sonically. Although I didn't win the competition I'm happy it was shortlisted for the livestream with feedback from both Chromeo and Anomalie.
