Bio:
Through the late 90s and early 2000s, samwas played bass guitar in bands before downloading his first DAW in 2006. He began tinkering in FL Studio and in 2008 purchased a DJ controller to play DJ sets for his friends at house parties. samwas began posting beats on his MySpace and PueVolume accounts while attending college in Southern New Jersey. 

In 2012 samwas began producing in Ableton Live and officially debuted his original music under the name samwas on SoundCloud. samwas was recruited by the Philly crew Psy.Fi Productions early in 2013. As part of the Psy.Fi team, samwas released his EP, Ekaggatta, as well as singles for compilations. 

During 2013-2017 samwas performed original Ableton Live sets at Psy.Fi events and was a resident DJ for Psy.Fi (Philly), FML Thursdays (Atlantic City), and Gridwork (Atlantic City). In 2014 & 2015, samwas was awarded “Top Area DJ” for South Jersey at the Elephant Talk Indie Music Awards. samwas released original music on several Philadelphia labels at this time including Psy.Fi, Funkadelphia, and Aspire Higher.

samwas’s Gridwork team curated seasonal events and festival stages between 2014-2019.

In 2023 samwas helped Sunday Double launch Weekday Underground where he remains a core team member and resident DJ.
